Default I need advice on selling a, 88 CRXSi

I made my first post here a few weeks ago about a recurring ignotion problem with my CRX. After spending 1300.00 this summer on repairs (broken timing belt, bent valves, headjob, new water pump, new belts, new muffler) I am basically tired of trying to maintain a 16 year old car.

It has almost new tires, a nice CD stereo, and is in good shape. Never wrecked but the original silver paint has lost its clear coat.

I need to know the best way to sell it without 'giving it away'. It runs great, and I would rather keep it in the garage as a spare vehicle than to sell it for peanuts.

When you add up the maintenance, tires, stereo, I have about 2000.00 invested in the car.

Advice, Suggestions?

Put it up for sale and just wait... younger kids will flock to this car. Atleast thats the way it goes around me... Blue Book Value means nothing for this car. I have personally seen some pretty tore up crx's go for 3-4K and I mean they were not worth more than 500$. It is a such an easy platform to work with. Just put a for sale sign on it and wait.

i've sold through autotrader.com and ebay.com check those sites and you'll get an idea of how much, and how fast these cars sell.

also put a FOR SALE "your car here" in your signiture. when you post people will see it...but HTers like to get everything cheap

Thats what I'm talking about. But I wouldn't use the word cheap, sounds so cheap. It's cost consensus (damn it I forgot how to spell that word). Ya'll know what I mean.

Just keep it and slowly add to it. These cars are basically piggy banks with an empty bottom. You'll never get back what you put into any car.

Thanks for the advice guys and gals.

AS for the piggy bank, comment, I know what you mean. She is a great car to drive, loads of fun, and just seems to be getting a little long in the tooth for me. I have owned this car for 10 years, and still LOVE to take her out on a winding country road. Just under 100k on the engine and a little over 100k on the body (original engine threw a rod in 1996)

As for the ignition question, yes, she still runs and drives just fine. The only way to 'notice' the ignition problem is some jumpiness in the tach. I have inspected the distributor, and there is some minor play in the rotor, but it is in the plastic to shaft fit, not the shaft itself. The retaining screw was cross threaded years ago, and is the source of the problem, too bad you cannot just buy the shaft, and not the whole damn assembly.

In the past the problem just got worse until the coil burnt out, and then replacing the coil got her back on the road. Nice idea to buy a coil with a lifetime warranty, fwiw.

Carrying a spare coil and distributor cap gives me peace of mind that IF the problem occurs again, I won't be stranded.

I don't have a digital camera so posting pics is not an option.

Never wrecked, adult driven, faded silver paint. 100% driveable.

As for breaking even..? The KBB value is about 1900.00

Because mine has new tires, new timing belt, new valve job, new water pump, new accessory belts, and nice after market stereo, I think mine is worth more than the KBB value.

I think the car is worth 3k. Someone with an interest in this kind of car would see that she is as close to factory original as you can get. A great base for a restoration project.
