Default anybody here who replaced the stock clutch without re-surfacing the flywheel? any problems?

i'm trying to troubleshoot what's wrong with my car, it's an SiR with custom turbo. i replaced the stock clutch with an exedy organic clutch about 7months ago so it's fairly new. the mechanic who did the install did not re-surface the flywheel...maybe he checked it but didn't see any hot spots. i break-in the organic clutch for 500km and after break-in i never launched it yet til now but only WOT runs.

about 2 months ago, whenever i drive the car from a cold start, no matter what time of day or night, the front of the car would shake violently including the dashboard while accelerating from a stop in 1st gear as if someone is learning to drive a manual tranny car. i think this is what people call a clutch chatter(correct me if i'm wrong).

within those 2 months up to now, there are only about 5-6 days(non-consecutive) when the shaking would disappear. the longest time without shaking is only 2 days.

i went to the shop who did the install and they said it might be the flywheel. i went to a race mechanic and he doubt it's the flywheel since he personally don't resurface flywheels whenever he changed clutch unless there's any hot spots or he just replace the flywheel when there's sign of warpage.

he also told me that honda flywheel are fairly strong and he told me to adjust my driving style. he said that since exedy organic clutch are more grabby than stock then that might contribute to the shaking as well but some of my friends who's using this clutch had no problems with it and they didn't re-surface their flywheels nor break-in the clutch. he also told me if it's the flywheel then it would not go away whether the engine is cold or hot.

now, one of my friend who replaced the oem clutch of his RAV4 to an oem also and the toyota dealership who replaced the clutch re-surfaced his flywheel but after a few months, he is experiencing this shaking also BUT NOT EVERDAY and ONLY when the engine is at operating temp and driven long already. quite the opposite of what i'm experiencing. he went to another shop and this shop told him that it's his flywheel and i'm know confuse.

i don't have time yet to let a shop open it up to take a look at it so i'm trying my luck if anyone experienced this wierd problem before. is it really the flywheel? if so, then i'm just one of the unlucky ones among those who did not re-surfaced their flywheel after a clutch change, huh?

any help will be appreciated.

I just bought a new OEM flywheel when I replaced my clutch with an Action 1MS. Not sure what your situation is, but I had to adjust my driving style. If I try to take off at any less than about 1800, it's chatter city. Take off at 1800 - 2k and it's pretty smooth. Give it a shot.

yup i have to rev up to 2k+ rpm to smoothly engage the clutch during cold starts but i don't think the exedy organic clutch should have this chatter compare to higher performance clutch. some of my friends who's using the same clutch had no similar experience as me.

anymore ideas?
