Default If I modify the headers, does it matter which ones I get

I'm a man on a budget so SMSP is outta the question. I'm thinking about DC sports headers with the modified 2 1/2 inch collector. But since I plan to modify the headers does it matter which one I get. I mean can I get some cheaper stainless steel ones and modify the collector on that? Basically I guess i'm asking of all headers are created "equal" up the collector. And also what part of the headers is the collector? The 2nd piece or the 1st?

No, alot more goes into a header design then size of the collector.

Primary size, Secondary size, length, etc.

The collector attaches to the cat, the "2nd" part.

Here are few links with a small amount of info that goes into header design

https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=718160

I was looking for a Hytech vs SMSP thread. It was basically an argument over whether hytech copied the smsp. Anyway the amount of info about header design in that thread was amazing.

However i couldn't find it ( it was in the allmotor forum i beleive) and i think i found the explanation why i couldn't find it here

If you really want to learn about it, search for SMSP, Hytech, Prospeed and any other "custom" header designs in the archives and you can learn a great deal about the design process

So if it's the 2nd part like where is it? Where it turns into 1? Cuz the design is 4-2-1, and both the 2-1 are on the same half. So would you make it 4-1 or modifywhere it just where it turns into 1 on that section of would you have to modify both pipes then get them into one etc. Get what i'm saying? Sorry about being somewhat ambigous.
