Tell me about the ZC motor & trans
I have my '91 5-speed Civic DX hatchback on the road now. The car still runs fine and all but it has 245k miles and has never had anything replaced (not evel a clutch!). I've been trying to get a line on a motor & tranny for the car for when the current ones quit/break/explode/etc...
My friend was telling me about how some dude with a 13 sec B16 CRX was telling him about the "ZC" motor. According to that guy, it's a Japan only motor that produces 120hp and the motor/tranny combo that can be had for $600 and everything bolts in to stock location all nice and kosher like.
Soooooo.... A.) Is this true? B.) Where can I get this from? and C.) What is JDM? Is it a company or what?

1) Partially true...It has between 130-137 hp and 108 lb-ft of torque. The DOHC ZC that you want came from the Japanese Civic/CRX Si. It has a black valve cover. Be careful because there are sohc zc's out there and also brown cover ZCs that you don't want. It will bolt into your car but you will have to change the wiring to run 4 injectors instead of two like your current motor has.
2)You can get one from http://www.nippon-motors.com
3) JDM= Japanese Domestic Market
Good Luck

I heard the Si Tranny was better overall than the ZC tranny, or Si with ZC Final Drive (or is that ZC with Si Final Drive), is the best I forgot its too early..
I think Nippon Motors has the ZC with transmittion for $600 bucks, I havent looked for a while, so I'm not sure. Ill post later when Im more awake.
