Default My DIY Icebox...

It's been done before but just thought I'd post the pics of mine. The pics are pretty self explanatory, I have a friend at our local Ace Hardware, all the parts including about 10ft. of the straight PVC piping was $7!

The coors light made installation quick and easy, maybe a 30 minute design, build and install.

The Butt dyno feels a definate midrange pull, all minimal midrange gains, but definately noticeable. Even passengers that normally ride with me feel the additional slight pull, extreme low end and extreme top end is really hard to tell any losses and/or gains. Overall I like it alot, nice smooth sound too. Quieter than having the top removed, but louder than stock.

The straight pipe is only about 8" long I believe x 3". I actually built the box several months ago. It's the "thin" PVC type stuff so it's a little plyable. So I simply "smushed it into an oval and stuck it in the bottom of the box, the rubber on the bottom of the box holds it in there really snug. Then I bought 2 of the 3"ID(I think thats the size) elbows and one 3"-4" adapter for the scoop. I actually used ABS elbows since they were black and looked pretty nice. Everything was held together by Some kind of ABS glue that I bought also.

If anybody wants one bad enough I'd be more than happy to piece a few together for a price WAY below Comptech

I used 2-3 long Zip ties to hold it in place, they are suprisingly strong and hold it in place with no problems at all. The stock rubber seal on the bottom of the box creates it's own air tight seal and actually holds the pipe very snug all by itself.

I'm running the stock filter right now. I may be going forced induction at some point so I didn't want to buy a filter. I actually had the full comptech intake and Icebox before but never installed it and sold it to pay some other bills I had at the time. The addition of the comptech, spoon, or monster filter would definately help my setup even more, great improvements I assume since even the stock filter is giving gains(I assume)
I may get is dyno'd out of complete curiosity to see the actual gains, when $$ permits ofcourse

What pipe diameter did you use going into the box? The one that seals with the OEM rubber?
