WOW!!!

I rememeber when I let my friend do my oil change cause he was bored and had no job and i was busy and had a job

He gives it back to me and im driving and the oil light comes on, so i turn off the car right then and there
It turned out he double gasketed the oil filter and I leak like 3qts of oil

Never let him touch my car after that

yeah I saw that, it's installer erro not honda error. I know jiffy lube, econo lube, etc... are known for double gasketed oil filters.

always try to do it yourself because you will know it will be done right....unless you're the "not mechanically inclined type."

I had to change the oil on one of these at my shop the other day and I was so nervous doing it. I must have checked for the gasket at least 12 times.

When the old gasket sticks to the block and then you slap a new filter with the new gasket on top of it.

I always make sure to clean the surface that it mates too just to make sure there isint any debris.

It's a good idea to double check. I've heard of a couple dozen of them catching on fire.

Same thing with the RSX, 7th-gen Accord, new Civic, & whatever else uses the K-series engine. It's just SO EASY to check, all you have to do is pay attention while you wipe down the surface where the filter seats. I've only had the old gasket stick once, but it was like no big deal since I felt it was there & I pulled it off.

what should you wipe it with? I have never done that. I have 105K miles on my car. I have always changed the oil too. that gives me sometime to worry about

Just wipe it with a clean rag. When you have the old filter off just make sure the gasket is on it. If you always do this you wont have a problem.
