Default My first service is due for my R but... i've only driven it 80k's..

When i picked up the car from the dealer it had done 120kilometres, it currently reads 202k's on the odometer at the moment and my first month having bought the car passed by on Monday (26th November). That is.. my first service is now overdue. Problem is, the average 1st month should have 1000k's (or 600 miles) on it. So it'd be assumed the car has driven around that much... but it hasn't.

What should i do about this?
a) take it in soon anyway
b) take it in when it's got more k's in it
or
c) road trip!

hehe, i don't think i can take it on a road trip to be honest, not soon anyway. I'm just highly concerned for my car, thats all. I have no idea what they do for the first service either. But it's probably in the manual, i've give it a read. But what do you guys think?

In case anyone asks, i can't use the R as a daily driver as of YET, and it's stored in another home of ours. So i've had to take regular trips to it, and even when i'm there i don't always have the opportunity to drive it.

Silly... i know.

Thanks for all your help.

Which service needs to be done? Is it a dealer recommended service or a Honda recommended service?

With the newness of the car I would say wait for the mileage to add up before taking it in.

Is the car stored inside with some control of the temp/humidity?

I would say to take it for a good drive at least every 2-3 weeks.

all they do for the first 1000km service, is change oil and oil filter and give the car a look over, nothing else
man just drive the car, thats what its made for

Did you purchase your car at Rick Damelian Honda?

I don't understand. Your car is one month old and has 200 km (120 miles) on it and you're asking about taking it in for a service? Service isn't due now!

I would wait until it has at least 6000 km or 4 months, whichever comes first, and then do the first oil change. Especially the first time, since it still has the special break-in oil in it.

I'm pretty sure it's a standard Honda thing. It's scheduled in the manual/warranty etc.

The car is always garaged, but never stored under control of temp/humidity.

I didn't buy the car at Rick Damelian, i heard they had quite afew though, but i'm not from Sydney and i preferenced local.

And if i had the choice, i would take it in when it reaches around 1000k's, or when it's been broken in. Though i've heard they'll not bother giving you your first service if you deviate from the recommended time. That is, "first service at 1000kilometres, or first month, whichever comes first".

I think i'll just ring up my dealer soon, and let him know that the car still has very very low k's, and if it's okay to bring the car in when it's at least got some more k's into it. Obviously it seems like a pretty bad idea to get them to service it now.
