Default 88 CRX/ ITR suspension?

I heard the 88CRXsi rear suspension resembled the ITR's suspension. Is this the case and if so does that mean that the ITR suspension was designed from the CRX model or is a fluke, if so?

The 88 civic rear controll arms mount the struts in the same fashion as the r, then in the states we changed it to fork style in 89. Don't quote me but I think this style is a stiffer set up.(less flex)

There's a thread in the EF forum and the guy who swapped everything from itr suspension, 5 lugs, brakes, etc said it was easy and the only thing different was to use different tie rods... Pics included there as well...
