Raising the Hood?!?!?!?
i put about 1/8 to 1/4 inch of washers between the hinges and the hood to give it a gap at the back of the hood and i noticed it seemed to open higher like my eg's hood... but the prop wouldn't hold it there so it was useless.
maybe if you do this or try bending up the back edges slightly and then cut an extra hole for the prop it'd work
have fun

Why may I ask??
Take a look at the Hood Hinge, there is a limiter there. If you want to raise it higher like the EG/EK then just shave it a little to your liking.

the hood on my 89 goes all the way up. i like it more, i can do swaps without takin the hood off. on my 91 it goes normall hight. maybe its a 88-89 90-91 thing.

Do me a favor and see what the difference is between your 2 civics.

I'm hoping I can use 88-89 ones. If possible. I didn't know you could just swap in EG hinges.

i dont know if you can, its just a suggestion, i cant imagine that the bolt pattern is that different, and if it is maybe you can use the base part and the upper from the EF, as far as i know the 88-89 opens the same as the 90-91

Not quite. This guy from my local Honda board has an 88 CRX that opens up far like the EG's and EK's.

The prop rod is the least of my worries. I know I can drill/dremel a hole into the hood skeleton to hold it up.
My hood only goes up like maybe 3 more inches. I'll have to see if I can put the EG hinge base on the EF hinge.

wouldnt that make a gap in the hood line in the rear so the hood would be slightly propped up?
i use to have that on my 240sx for heat purposes.. didn't notice a increase in hood clearance when i opened it
maybe hondas are different

I cracked my fuGGiN windsheild trying to raise my hood up as far as it looked like it could go when I was swapping my motor. Here we are a year and a half later and I still havent replaced it.

It's not actually raising the rear side of the hood. At least I won't do it to my car. I'm thinking I may have to cut and weld some hinges together. Then I can make a 'J' shaped bracket to clear the defroster vent trim.

ok, dont swap the hinges, look at the ed (ef) hinges...on the hinges there is a limiter like stated above...if you loosen the lower part of the hinge you can swivel the limiter dealie out of the way, then you can have full tilt on your hood....and on the hood, standing at the front facing back, there is a hole in the hood below and to the left of the original hood prop hole...you have to bend the top part of that hole in and then you can use that to hold the hood...works great for me....i can take pics in the morning if you want...
