91 honda civic si w/ blown D16A6 motor
Hiya guys, I'm new to this board as well as the Import scene. I bought a 91 Honda Civic Si with a D16A6 motor. The motor has a cracked engine block. I havent gotten down that far into the tear down to tell wether or not I has a broken rod or not. My question is what other types of engines will fit into the engine compartment? Also if I choose to just rebuild this engine, what engine blocks can I use? I have a local junk yard I can pic up D15B2 for really cheap. Can I use this with my motor? Are the Pistons smaller on the D15B2? What should I do? I'm on a very tight budget and not trying to be king of the streets just want something thats peppy and reliable. I'm planning on using this as a regular driver for my trips across town cause my big V8 is killing me on gas! Your help and knowledge will be greatly appreciated!
You can use D15Bs, but you can pick up D16A6 blocks for less than $100. Any B series honda engine will fit in there, All D series will fit in there, and the H/F motors will fit with modifications.
I'd just pick up another A6, I'm sure you can find someone selling a complete setup for dirt cheap. Mine has everything with it for $400, so it's not hard.
BTW,I think the only difference in D engine displacement is the stroke... don't quote me on that though.
