Default A032R-S questions

Has any one used the A032R-S on the track? I understand this is supposed to be a softer auto-x coumpound but I can get some new for fairly cheap & would like to use em on the track, how much softer are these from a032r or RA1?

Thanks

I just finished up with a set of A032R's in the Hard compound - If they are significantly softer they arent going to last very long on track. A full tread A032R-H will probably last 6-7 weekends on track.

I've got 4 weekends out of this set (pic when mounted): http://www.we-todd-did-racing....D.jpg

They are bald, but not corded - they could go another weekend. I would use them again if I bought them used, but their new price of $160/tire is too steep for me for their grip (Its not that much stickier than a falken) and life (about half as much as a falken).

hi rj!

i've used those suckers down to the cord (surprised? ); you have probably at least another weekend left on them, if you want to get it out!

i've never driven on the falkens; were the 032r better at withstanding the heat before they "greased out" and went away?

see you at mid o!

They never greased out like the falkens did, which was very nice at summit in the summer

Very consistent through the whole session but I did find out that too much pressure + abrasive surface and excessive wheelspin will wear them very quickly. Aside from that, they're great tires. I think the grip has fallen off a bit though, but they're still sticky enough and certainly not dead yet

I'll send you a PM about Mid-O

I have been using a set of 032R Soft Compound on the track as my rain/drive to the track tire since the beginning of the season. In May and October in can be pretty cold on North-Eastern tracks, and other R compounds do not warm up easily, so I chose these and have been very satisfied. I normally run 225/50/15 (Sport Cups) or 225/45/15 (Hoosiers) on 15x7" rims in the dry, but I bought a set of 205/50/15 032R (S) for my stock ITR wheels (6.5" I think). They warmed up well (150 degrees) in the wet and gave good grip and confidence. I have driven a few thousand kilometers on them going to the track as well and they will surely last the season doing what I bought them for, grip in the rain or on a cold track, plus getting me there. I was going to buy Toyo RA-1's for the same purpose, but I got a much better deal from wheelsandtiredirect on the Yokos, so I went with those. Not sure how they would last or do in the dry on a warm day at the track, but I would assume they would overheat and wear quickly. Depends on how hard you drive.

No, I am not. If you want to run these tires in the dry on the track, the RA-1's would be a better bet. They are very good tires, and most of my buddies run on those. I chose the Yoko Soft for the cold/damp/wet, not for flat out driving on a hot track. The RA-1's are a proven entity for the track, so I would recommend those, or the hard compound Yokos if you want to save money, unless you can find someone who is happy on the Soft compound Yokos for hard track drving in the dry. If your car is very light, say 2100 lbs, and low power, say 130 whp, then the Soft compounds might be OK in the dry, but this is not my case. I saw a guy at LCMT running a CRX with the 032R Soft compounds, and he said he was happy with them, but he is the only one I spoke to.
