88 honda accord dash lights

just bought the car, dash lights don't go on. Shift gear lights go on until I turn on the head lights, then they go off. Tried the dimmer, that didn't work. Help! Any replies will be appreciated.

How old is the car? I suspect mcgivered wiring and such....

FIrst, check fuses under dash.

Got a mutlimeter?

get a multimeter and see if the dash is gettin any power. also check the wires for corrosion or anything else that would be messed up
