Powersteering Pump Whining sound is driving me nuts!!!
My friend had his H22A removed from his prelude so that the he could have the engine bay painted. The powersteering lines were covered and the powersteering reserve tank was removed and we blocked the hoses that flow powersteering fluid into and out of the tank. Previous to this project, he did not have this problem with the powersteering pump.
When reinstalling the engine, everthing was put back where it went and the engine was installed. Now we have a high pitched whining noise coming from the powersteering pump. We bled the system as indicated per helms and still have the same noise. I has since become even louder and unbearable. We picked up a known good powersteering pump and replaced his unit. We bled the system and continue to have the same problem.
What could be wrong?

I gave it a bit more tension and took the car for a ride. The high-pitched noise went away but when we started making turns, the noise started again low pitched and increased a bit more after. It doesn't sound like it did yesterday, but it is still there when turning.
