I am having my USDM Mugen header converted to a 2.5" collector and I have been thinking about having it Ceramic coated while its off the car. No, not for looks but to try and keep the under temp down and help with the exhaust scavaging? Any thoughts on why or why not to ceramic coat the header?
Thanks Mattj

Are you talking about the Jet-Hot coating? That sounds like a good idea... most of the guys who did so to their JDM 4-1 did so partially for rust inhibition, I'm sure - but it does lower temperature.
It's not generally indicated for stainless steel headers nor NA applications - but if you like the way the coating looks (like Jet Hot) then go for it.

Same thing as Jet-Hot, but a different company. Any other Thoughts?
Why not N/A applications, just more heat build-up with the supercharged cars?

You gave me the idea but I'm going much simpler (read: cheaper) The USDM and JDM Mugen header are the same all the way down to the collector. I am having them just chop the collector near the O'2 bung and rewelding a 2.5" collector in its place. Nothing fancy.

i had my jdm mugen 4-1 ceramic coated and i thought it was fine. kinda did it cuz the SS was turning ugly. i thought it was funny that after it ppl kept thinking i had a DC header in there, sleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeper
How much can I expect to pay for one of these "coating-jobs" on a JDM 4-1 ??
