This Might seem stupid but Im looking to buy a New Wastegate since my Peice of Sheeet Deltagate is Creeping to 20psi on my STOCK H22a.


Tial: I Have Heard and Read it's the Best one out

Turbonetics Evolution: Have heard they will not Creep

Turbosmart: Have read One Post saying it was good.

Well i have a SSautchrome manifold on my H22a motor.
I Hope this Wastegate will NOT Creep whichever one i will choose.

Which is the Best 38mm Wastegate?

No creeping issue
I had a deltagate before. I think it was creeping a little.

The wastegate runner makes a 270° turn on the SSAC manifolds and seems to be the cause of a lot of boost creep issues.

However I looked at my SSAC manifold, and the hole cut between the collector and the wastegate runner can easily be doubled in size without sacrificing the structural integrity of the manifold.

So before you spend another wad of dough on a new wastegate, I recommend you pull the manifold off, and open that hole up with a dremel. You'll see what I am talking about when you look at it: There's a lot of metal inside of the welds that just gets in the way.

 

i seen that too. When i first put the manifold on it never creeped. it did after time

 

Maybe your turbo just loosened up as it broke in. I just like to start with the least expensive fixes and move on to the more expensive ones if those don't work.

im running the tial 38mm on my b16 with a precision t3/t4 and it works great

 

Did you Have previous boost creep problems? What manifold did you have.

tials are awesome, i love mine, the only problem is that stupid gasket they give u ***** the bed after 200 miles so my wastegate is steel on steel no flange and no problems

 

try to dremel the wastegate weldings away.

and you can cut teh wastegate flange and place it somewhere else.

The Turbosmart Ultragate is the best wastegate on the market right now. The ultra is made entirely of 253ma, which is a steel that as virtually no carbon in it. Since the is no carbon it won't collect deposits and gunk up. This means you can also run race gas in it and it won't gunk up. The ultra uses a one piece valve system, compared to everyone elses two piece. The ultra's valve is machined from a solid piece of 253ma and cost about $50 to make, others use a combination of crap metals and their cost them approx $7 to make. The ultra's valve lifts 3mm higher then anyone elses. And the interior of the ultra has been port matched for maximum flow. The ultra flow 20% more than the Tial 38mm.

The ultra is investment cast instead of sand casting. Other W/G that are sand cast will rust and corrode on the back of the W/g in less then a year. The ultra will never rust or corrode.

EIP used one Ultragate on the 600hp VR6 build, Inline Pro uses Turbosmart W/G exclusively, Brent Rau uses a Turbosmart Progate, Turbosmart/JRP has the world record for front wheel drive no nitrous, 8.66 with a progate

If you look into it, you will see how the Turbosmart products are far superior to other companies

 

TIALs is basically the top of the line brand. I used to have a Turbonetics Deltagate and it made me have boost creep every now and then. The TIAL (38mm) I am using now seems to hold boost without a hitch.

True that.. I dremel out almost twice the hole size! 7psi solid No creeps at all. For SSauto.

I wouldnt use anything else.
I've been running mine for going on two years now.
I was able to pick mine up for under $150, from a fellow honda-tech member
who was "upgrading" to a tial. A friend of mine picked one up used for $170.
Seems like people are finally starting to catch on to these, so im glad i got mine
when they were still fairly unknown. You definatly cant find a better constructed
gate, for any amount of money IMO.

 

I grinded the wastegate hole today, Its staying at 9psi instead of the .5 bar (7.25psi).
I can run 10 psi on my motor no problem, but I grinded and cut and grinded for at least 3 hrs. and I made the hole 50% larger if i went any larger i would have sacrified the welds. Sucks

did you pick it up from me? We met at home depot in NJ, I had a black integra and you had a white crx i think.

possibly, it was either one of mine, or one for a firend. cant remember. in any case, good deal

If it is solid at 9 PSI then you solved the creep issue. Now you need to find a better boost signal for your wastegate. Take the signal from the nipple on the compressor housing and it will drop your boost level.
