Curious Question: Brake rotors
OK, this just popped into my head and its going to bother me unless i ask you guys
I see brake rotors with holes in them to cool them down and such. Could I just port holes in a stock rotor myself with the same results? Not a brake expert so lay the details on me

im not sure if they you can do that yourself.....im not a brake expert myself, but i dont see how if you were off a mm or so how it would really make a difference, but remember..these things have to stop you so be careful and dont get carried away, but *I* would suggest you just get the ones that are already drilled. ive heard some people say its basically a waste of money...and OEM type rotors are just as good when you look at the price differences. anyone else care to elaborate?
I think drilling into your stock rotors would cause problems (stress points, etc). Although, I think some companies just drill into rotors to make them. Back when I was still in the scene, I think I remember a common problem was cracking occuring near the holes. The stock rotors should be fine as they are. If they aren't cutting it, you might need to upgrade to bigger rotors anyway.
the more material you remove from a rotor the faster it heats up since there is less mass to abhsorb heat as well. i would stick with stock rotors or if you really want crossdrilled ones wait til you can buy em that were done by a brake rotorcompany such as brembo or powerstop.
