are you ready for NASCAR TV
those of us who have become used to watching the Type R, BMW and other cars dice it out in the Speedvision World Challenge series on Friday evenings (and F1/WRC on Monday evenings) may have to start looking elsewhere for (touring) car racing. what many people feared about Speedvision is slowly becoming a reality.
"Available in 45 million homes, NASCAR TV on SPEED Channel provides NASCAR fans with an unprecedented, dedicated block of NASCAR-related programming. NASCAR TV augments the hundreds of hours of NASCAR Winston Cup and NASCAR Busch Series racing and related programs already slated for telecast on FOX, FX, Fox Sports Net and NBC/TNT. Come February, NASCAR TV airs between 3:00 PM and Midnight ET on weekday afternoons and evenings."
"It's fair to say that from this point forward, that due to its amazing popularity, NASCAR programming will drive the SPEED Channel," said SPEED Channel president Jim Liberatore.

I guess we'll have to wait till after midnight to get WRC, World Challenge and other types of racing in TV.

I HATE OLD BEER/GAS GUZZLING V8 HEADS and you all have no clue what it is really like I live in hick ville georgia and its 10X worse that it can possibly. I argue everyday with a kid in one of my classes that BTCC takes more skill than his dads dirt track racing at local round dirt circuits and he dont believe me so I say what about WRC? he still thinks staying in a drift in a "latemodel" v8 car going like 50 mph for 30 min around a dirt track is the hardest type of racing! errrrrrrrrrr

Is there any chance that someday another channel like Speedvision will popup cuz someone out there loves the sport as much as we do. Kinda like the Naptster situation, how they suck now, but you got alternatives like Morpheus, limewire, WinMX.....
Better get that TiVo now...
Its great I turn it on go to the now playing list and I can rewatch SCCA touring and grand touring, german touring etc etc.
I love TIVOP.S. - Note to anyone who gets TIVO you have 2 choices pay 9.99 a month or a 1 time fee of $249 pay monthly, If you pay the one time fee it sounds like it will save you money after 2 years but if the unit break and is replaced or you upgrade to a new unit you have to repay the fee, it wont carry over to the new unit.

**** YOU NASCAR!!! Oh well, at least F1 is on the weekends so it doesn't really interfear with the live race coverage. But what about pratice? That's usually on around 9pm on Friday. Damn, no more WRC during prime time either. Guess I better go to best buy and pick up a TIVO. Thank you for screwing over speedvision, you bastard rednecks.

Well the only differences and this is after calling them, there will only be small changes the guy said somethings will be moved around but only thing there adding in is a few Nascar races to split some of them up from the FOX channel and the rest will be shown on local network afflitates. I can tell you driving around an oval is not easy and most road course drivers that try the ovals will even admit it. And if few things start to develop more road courses will be introduced. After actuall talking with some Nascar drivers that live around here..it's more chess game. Because you always have chance to win if you save your car but have to be fast enough to keep it in the top 5 and have good pitstops.
As for touring cars races being on late or odd hrs..is the way it use to be anyways. Almost always back when they started the BTCC races came on around 2am here. More then likely the races will come on around 8pm like they have always.

Ha Ha! They do that (left turn only) so you can drink a beer with your other hand while driving.
This sucks! What about their pledge NOT to turn it into the "NASCAR channel"?
Ridiculous, dont they know variety is the spice of life and not turning LEFT ALL DAY ALL FREAKIN YEAR????

No ****! And the ******* tracks are banked, so they don't even have to turn hard. Nascar isn't about the faster driver or car, its about the better gas mileage and faster pit crew. NASCAR SUCKS.
yep its all about the pit crews that determine a race not the driver all he had to do is turn left!!!! Nascar sucks just like my signature says. Watching a Gerbil run in a wheel is more entertaining then watching CRAPCAR!!!!!
Actually there was currently two road courses races by Nascar last yr Watkins Glen and Sear Point Raceway. So they do both left and right turns. Right now Nascar is popular but the heads there want to get everyone to see the races so they will be filtering in even more road courses as well to appeal to more people.
Also notice if you goto Speedvision website it says a block of programming devoted to Nascar. Meaning it's not any different then what there doing now. Nascar TV is going to be channel within normal motorsports you see on Speedvision but will be changed to Speed Channel..which is probably due to legal reasons of not having to pay royalty fees to the creator of the name.
Also Ascar a form of Nascar in Europe finished it first yr saying how good of yr it was and all there racing is only done on two ovals.

I guess most of you don't know most Nascar cars have alot of tech in them if you watch some of Nascar tech. They may not have the best crash protection but there getting better in that area. As for speed..the cars have too much speed to the point it gets dangerous. All Nascars have restrictor plates to reduce hp and rev limitors. They done test here where they have gone over and beyond 200+mph here but think if you get tapped going over 200mph. You can expect to be another Kyle Petty flipping over and over again for around half mile or more.
Also if you want to know what english mag thinks of Nascar type racing go pickup issue 37 of EVO at your local bookstore and anyone knows EVO mag is more roadcourse fans. I'm not into Nascar but I do watch it from time to time. Also since I know some of the drivers personally kinda of gives me a reason to watch as well. Plus Evo write Jethro Bovingdon even says he thought he was going fast at only 137mph and it was scary everytime you get close to the wall. He said he actually couldn't imagine doing over 165mph and being out there with 30 something cars only inches apart all trying to get into #1 postion. He said on top of that having your car pushing or being loose on top of all this and timing pitstops that Ascar and Nascar drivers derserve big respect because it's not as easy as it looks when your strapped in and you see the wall coming closer to you all the time.
Also if you ever seen Nascar cars qualify which I have because friend of mine was big #3 fan for most his life..that most speeds are withing fractions of each other and only tenths of second separate most. And when you talk about it's only fuel mileage and pitstop times..hmmm one the big things in F1 is have the better fuel mileage car so you don't pit as often and also fast pitstops so you can keep position up front. In that way Nascar and F1 are very similar. F1 beats all over the place in the tech catorgory but in F1 your not really in the locked to only one aero package..they get to design there owns. If you don't match up in template aero in Nascar you will not be able to race as you would have aero advantage.
So in some ways there going to be similar and other ways there not.
Main reason I even keep posting is because people bitch bitch bitch when they don't even have some of the basics down in Nascar racing. Some would say drag racing is boring. I don't like it myself because I don't think I'm that good off the line simple fact so I let someone better at it drive my car do it for me. On track I will take on anyone as long as I know my car got chance. I recently learned a good bit about drag racing but I don't go around bitching about it all the time. I believe theres like 5 big post just about this Nascar racing.
The thing is poeple that keep bitching and shouting it out so much usually make others wonder what it's all about and starts watching if they continue to watch you just did Nascar a favour by turning someone that probably never watched until everyone threw a fit.
As for the kid saying his dad was the best and it takes more skill and everything. Maybe it doesn't but maybe to him his dad is the greatest and he wasn't going to let someone say what he does sucks or wasn't very hard. He may not be willing to open his mind up to other things but that mostly block due to pride he has for his dad and I'm sure if someone dads races say Speedvision World Challenge and someone says WRC is harder and your dad's not that skillful more then likely you start saying the samething. Every type of racing takes skill some more or less but normally no person that races a car will say that was perfection because you can never get there but it's always there pushing you for perfection. When I'm on the track I want to be perfect no mess ups no mind boggs. My mind set is I have to beat everyone and beat them lap by lap and no matter what I won't let anything or anyone stop me. "If your not willing to everything on the line then your not willing to become race car drivers because sometimes you have to do just that to win nothing more and nothing less." Thats a quote from Jason Plato of the BTCC.

Actually it's always been more then 1 hr. Right now it's on around 3hrs out of the day. Also wear does it say 9hrs of programming. I doubt it, more then likely it be the same as always they will just adj the time for Nascar TV a few hrs and the rest would be normal. Right now Speedvision today showed 2 hrs of just of infomerical about cooking wares and how to become rich. I've seen them soo many times I can about tell you word for word what there about to say next. I rather watch Nascar tech instead of watching that. A friend which came over two weekends ago even agreed I rather see Nascar program then this stuff over and over again. Also with Nascar TV in place maybe they can finally go 24hrs of shows instead of after 3am they just show constant feed of infomericals. I work late into the wee mornings sometimes and I rather hear a race then some commerical about how I can become rich if I buy there 200+ dallors worth of tapes and books.
lol was talking to a fellow road racing fan (nascar hater) lol i forget the saying in German but it means Racing in a bowl lol How they make fun of our hillbilly sport of NASCAR
Actually it's funny they even it's a german saying that since they had more in attendance at there oval there watching the Ascar races. Also maybe they are hillbillys but to just get a rolling chassis in Nascar is around 500 grand. You will spend 60 grand per quaifing engine per race not alone 3-4 race engines. Also best to have backup car encase you wreck right before the race. I know Stricklin here spends around 2-3 million a yr just on Nascar. Now bigger teams spend hellalot more. Some spend over 8 million a yr. Alot of this doesn't include what the drivers get paid per yr which is normally more then most of us can make per yr. For two road races Stricklins team paid road racer to drive for them 1 million dallors and if he won he get another 250 grand. To me gettin 500 grand per race win or lose is not bad at all. Now I know 8 million or so per car and team doesn't sound much to fans of F1 where Ferrari spend 300 million per yr. But I can see why Europeans say it's good to get into because it's cheap compared to everything else. This is what happens when racing gets too techinical it keeps alot of teams out of racing since they can't afford it or there sponsors won't fit some of the bills.
BTCC racing is even top dallor as they spend as much per car as Nascar if not more in certain cases. Reason some of manufactures dropped out because it just cost too much. Main reason they got into money problems..also if they had not let Hatches start racing Honda wouldn't be even coming back to the BTCC.
