S2K owners,need advise??
HI, i have been looking in to S2000's lately and i'm on the edge of buying one
I just want some info on them from people who own them. First off are you happy
with your purchase? not just because they look good...but the way they handel
and the power they put out.. AS of now i own a b18c5 crx and a h22 turboed accord. Both cars put out good power and i'm happy with that and all but it's time to move on. what are some upgrades for a S2k that function and is it worth
it to do bolt on's? I dont want to buy this car and be let down
any info given will help.
thanks

i just bought mine in feb.. and i love it... there is a little lack of power under 6 grand which gets to me once in a while.. but over 6rpms.. you're in the money..
... it handles like a champ in my oppinion and i love it..... go to http://www.s2ki.com to find out a lot of info on the car.
bolt on's alone will not give you that much power but with the right combination and some good tuning with an aem ems, you can pull out a lot of power. you can gain a lot of power from tuning..
...
i say you get it.. you won't regret it..

Oh, heck yeah. I love the purchase. I am not too thrilled about the money that goes into it. But nothing is more fun then getting into the S and just rip it. I wouldn't change a thing. Just be sure you are ready financially and family wise. Don't use the S as just your "only" car because it doesn't go very far as far as space and passengers.
mine is a daily driver...
hehehehe.... and i wouldn't change it for the world.. hehehe....
oh yeah i forgot about how much the parts cost hahahaha.... you'll have to sell some vital organs to afford aftermarket parts for the S... but it's all worth it..

I must've missed the part of the rules here where it said it was mandatory to answer everyone's threads on here, no matter how stupid.
It's one thing to ask for feedback on a car, but, who really cares what we think? If you're going to buy the car and drive it, then you need to make the decisions about the car. Is the S2k what YOU want? Can you afford it? Maint., fuel, tires, parts, etc.
Quite frankly I have no desire to tear into my 04 S2k. It's perfectly fine the way it is. I spent years modifying my previous car and got that out of my system. I, for one, can appreciate the time that is spent not only designing the S but the actual manufacturing process as well.
You gotta look more into buying a car than just, "oh, it looks sweet!". Make the decision based on what you really want out of the car. If you can buy an S and enjoy it for what it is and what it was intended for, then by all means get one. But, depending on your budget, I wouldn't suggest getting one (atleast not a new one) and ripping into it by dumping thousands of dollars in expensive parts for it.
Good luck. Hope you get what you want.

the 2 guys posted above was perfect, i have never driven an S, there for i wanted
to know if every one was happy with their S2k..I'm not a 20 year old kid who is window shopping and asking stupid questions.I dont want to go to a dealer and waist their time.I didn't ask how much the car was going cost.If i had a budget
problem i would not be buying a S2k.
It was a simple question for people who owned these cars.
So why do you come off so cocky?

I think it was just because you came across as so damn impatient...
Anyways...though we've only had ours about a week, i can say that for a guy over 6' tall, driving this thing long distances or daily might present an issue as far as cramped space goes, the car is quite small on the inside (dont know if the 04's really changed much from the 03's but ours is tiny)...
Power wise, the thing has a very small amount of torque, but when you get into VTEC land, it opens up even more so than my CL Type-S, whcih i had thought for a while to have a very strong vtec engagement, compared to the S2000 it is very subtle, the S2K is like a lion waking up when you get around 6K rpms. Down low its kinda weak sauce, but this car wasnt meant to drive down low like that, and really, once you get her going, you'll be right in that optimal power band through every shift, it just doesnt want to slow down.
Brakes are awesome, handling is very very good, especially for a convertible, much better than the BMW's and Boxster (regular, not the "S") that we found comperable to the price. Engine sounds great, radio kinda sucks. (actually the radio really sucks) but this isnt a car you're gonna want to drown the exhaust note out with teh radio, part of the beauty of it ive found atleast is driving her hard and just listening to the engine sing.
Im very impressed, it is my wife's car and she couldnt be happier...over all, i feel it is WELL worth the price tag.

I came across as cocky to you just like your post appeared as a 15 year olds pointless whinning attempt for useless information. So I guess we're about even there.
The point of my post was not to put you down or try to make myself feel superior to you, I just wanted you to see the whole picture of things. But, when you came off with the comment like this after no one replied:

It doesn't matter how old you are, no one should be "afraid" to go to a dealership and ask about a car. They'll be able to tell you just as much as here most of the time. And you are too nice of a person if you don't want to "waist" (it's waste
) a dealerships time. They don't get the nickname 'stealerships' for no reason.
Go out, be adventerous, and get all the info you can!

I didnt think he was cocky. In your face, yes, not cocky. My first thought was similar. Why dont YOU go testdrive one. Wasting a dealer's time? What else do they do but give test drives??? They are like cockaroaches anyway. Head their way and they swarm around you, wanting to give you a test drive.

I have had mine for over 4 years now and have enjoyed it every time I drive.
I feel you definately need a garage space for it. Go drive one and check it out. A total blast.
If you do get one, aftermarket upgrades are expensive. To do it correctly takes ten, twenty or even thirty thousand extra dollars. I suggest leaving it stock and driving it for a while. After you become comfortable in it take some high performance drivers education (HPDE) sessions. After a year look back on it and see if you want to make any changes.
