OT: How do people treat you in your EF/Honda

Hey all, every friday and saterday around here all the people into cars in the area get together in a large parking lot to hang out. Now sometimes people in "muscle cars" show up and hang out with us too. Basicly their are two meet spots, one for "Muscle Cars" and one for imports. If you own a Honda/Acura/Toyota/VW (any import) and go down to the american hang out you have to expect someone calling you a ricer and your car a rice burner.
Now when american cars (that are nicely done) come to our hangout we have no problem and we check out the person's ride. Now the thing is... why should Import Tuners have respect for american cars when we cant even hang out with out getting called a ricer? It's like WTF, we have no problem with you but you seem to have a big problem with us. I was brought up building fast muscle cars with my dad (had a 11sec 70 Chevelle SS) so i still have some respect for american cars, but it seems every meet i loose more and more of that respect.
Sorry needed to vent, BTW i posted this in the EF forum because i own two and people always tell me to buy a newer car and that the cars i build are rice burners. Duscuss
edit: BTW i'm venting because a local EF owner turned mustang owner and i got into a arguement tonight at one of the meets. It went something like:
Me: Whats this, this isn't a honda (jokingly)
Him: Go back over to your slow POS and get the **** away from my car. have fun building those slow rice burner

Beacuse our hondas Belive it or not ARE the "popular" one. And ALOT of people have issues with getting over the "No replacement for Displacement" Heres how to win There respect. Beat them. heh. but muscle cars are what? 84-2004 Chevy,ford,pontiac? Woopty freekin doo. Ill take a classic any day. give me 72 and before Nova, Chevelle, hell, even a freekin Mustang!. and Ill be happy.
theres CLASSIC hotrods. And theres **** box's ( any 80's "sport" car IMO ) Then theres the new ones. 99+ witch IMO is teh suck.

Make your car quick or even fast. My car is decent I can hang with lightly modded LT1's and LS1's and pretty decent modded 5.0's. Once the guy's get a taste of how quick your car is then they will give it more respect unless they are just completely biased.
Even goto the track and line up with a camaro or mustang and if you beat it you wont be gettin any **** the mustang or camaro driver will.
Just gotta make sure you have some power under the hood.

keep being a good guy and let them be the ********, because when you go to bed every night, you may not get the "respect", but you can sleep knowing you're not an *******.
there's alot of that **** going on up here in Maine!! no matter if you have a fast and quick Honda. your still consider'd a ricer!! when i see more mustang's and camaro's "riced out" then imports!! except for one thing the import's always have aftermarket taillights!!
i've beaten plenty of mustang's and camaro's. the one and only time i got respect was from a 69' camaro owner that i bearly beat in the 1/8 mile track!! he came up to me after the race and shook my hand. and congratulated me!!

I actually have a funy story about a similar encounter, we were a Tim horton's
one night and all the imports were just hanging around, and three Mustangs pull in and start talking smack, everybody knows the one guy he has this gas type color
paint job, and we've seen him hit 10's on like 300 hp in nos. Anyways starts talking ****, we have a buddy with a 96 Talon, engine's punched out to like a 3.8, and running like 30psi of boostm the guy runs a 10.3 supposely. So were all just ignoring him, and Trevor buddy with the Talon just says, "i guess u've never seen the tailights of 4 cylinder", the guy says "never will either", Trev's like wanna bet on that, u can tell the guy sort of hesitated but then he's like, "i dont bet anything less then $500", right away Trev;s like lets go, buddy obviously didnt know who he was talking to, $40000 in engine work done to that Talon, and the guy's dad owns Oil changers, like this guys loaded. anyways Trev's like pick the spot, buddy's like meet u at Boundary rd, 20 min, anyways we get there buddy's already warming up is tires, smoke everywhere two Stangs just sitting there smokin there tires it's like ok cool guy, anyways buddy pulls out is wadd of $20's there you go he says $500 bones, Trev pulls out is wallet and just takes 5 crisp $100 bills it's like Damn, anyways they line up, my buddy Mike waves them to start and off they go, you could tell right off the bat the Mustang was done for it, buddy could nt hold the launch the car couldnt gt traction, and the Talon AWD just took off, i swear he had like a football field on him by the time they were done.They come back and of course buddy's got some lame *** excuse, then says "fu**in ricers" and they all peel off, made for an interesting night for once, your absolutely right no respect they have for cars in general, and thats what its all about bringing out someones personality threw your car, unfornutaly V8 driver's, drive v8 just to try to compensate FOR THEIR SMALL *****,

I go to our local McDonalds Cruise Night every Friday night where there are muscle cars that would blow your mind. I have been going for 2 years and I have made many friends there. The regulars(There are many) love my 1990 Civic Si and they also respect me for loving the car hobby as much as they do. They also comment on how nice my car looks. They also say how they hate giant wings and body kits on cars that sound like a bunch of bees in a can driving down the road. Mine does not look or sound like the ones they hate. The other factor that makes people with classic muscle cars hate us is how cocky and disrespectful most of the "Ricers" are. These kind of people ruin it for all of us. I parked next to beautiful yellow truck last night with an a$$hole owner who made a comment to the guy who was helping park the cars(Who I am also friends with) how he did not want a "Honda" parking next to him. I got out of my car and said to my friend that I will make it easy on the truck owner and move my car to another spot so I won't ruin his reputation. I just ignore these people and don't start any $hit because it just makes us import owners look bad. I have a good reputation at these cruise nights and the comment makers and haters just make themselves look bad.

Now that may at first sound pissy, but think about this; The "car conflict" has been going on since just about after dirt was invented. In the past it was a big thing about if a Ford or Chevy was better. It never got answered!
What you should do is build a car that you want to have. You should be proud of the quality of work you do. Not the manufacturer. What others think doesn't matter.

oh i'm not saying i'm not proud to drive a honda, at teh end of the day i can still out handle most muscle cars thats thats all i really care about. the only import around here that got some respect was my friend's 400whp flat black (with polished 17in volks) 240sx, just becasue he could beat just about every stang and vette that he raced. i deffentally see what you guys are saying about "I have xxHP so i'm fast" and i guessed i never really relised that was said so much untill you guys mentioned that. Heh, reminds me of when my friend's EVO with I/E kicked some guy's built 350s ***
