Default Ignition Output ECU Code . . HELP!

Alright

Here's a few pics. She turns over. . but won't start. Isn't getting spark. Ecu error 15 (ignition output) New plugs, plus wires, ignition coil is only 5 months old, same as battery. Dist worked before swap, and the dist wire is getting voltage as it should. I'm baffled and rather pissed, this swap is going into the 7th week.

things I notice

1. Sounds like it wants to start. . but won't!

2. Off battery, barely cranks. . but when jump starting from another car cranks a LOT!

3. Tested everything from the manual and took apart dist today. . still no go!

4. I'm fricken CLUELESS right now!

Thanks for the links.

I already followed those pics. Like I said, I checked for voltage on the fellow/black wire, and I know the ECU is good. I can't test the pins because I dont have a test harness like it . Only thing left it says is ignition . . . .and my coil is brand new.

Anybody else?

yes, i'm staying OBD0 for now. . will be using a RPM switch but should be switching to a VTEC controller sometime soon. I am using the stock A6 dist. . yes.

According to the manual I have and those links. . it's not getting spart due to the ignition not working. . (not the coil). This makes sense to me, but I wanna make sure it does to someone who knows a little more. I know it's getting air & fuel, and timing is easy, or so it seems.

The ignition coil is like 4 months old. . so it can't be that.

How do you know if the ignitor is bad ?

I don't know how to test those wires on the ecu, don't you need a test harness? and the picture online wasn't even close to how my ECU hookups look. . so I didn't have a clue or which one's to check.

Thanks for the ideas, anyone else or does this make sense?

I had the same thing happen to me a while ago, turned out to be my ignition switch. Make sure you have 12v at the coil with the key on.

I don't understand how either one of those helps. . alternator or fuse. Unless fuse is toast it shouldn't help, and car can start without an alternator. . Although that could explain why off the battery it's slow as hell turning over and when hooked up with another car it turns over right away.

Ignition switch. . which is where?

Ignition switch is where your key goes.

well if the car turns over. . and tries to start. . doessn't that rule out the ignition switch?

Anyone else have some ideas?

well I can see from your pics that your car is a 90-91 Si right? So are you using a HF harness or and 90-91 Si harness?

so your car won't crank up but if a battery is hooked up to it it cranks fine right? Sounds like a bad battery to me since I had a similar problem.

if you are using the wrong wiring harness you will have to switch it out or move a couple of pins on the harness itself since there slightly different. IF this is the case PM me and I'll send you a pic of what I'm talking about.

check all your connections on your harness and see if there loose. If in doubt disconnect and reconnect them and see what happens.

well man if you need anything else just reply or PM me.

good luck

it's a 90 Si CRX. OBD0. A6 Dist & PM6 Ecu & Si wiring harness. So I shouldn't have to modify that.

Z6 head, timing belt, etc. . .

Tried disconnecting every single hookup.

With just the battery, the car barely cranks over. . but being jumped it turns over. . but doesn't start.

Haven't hooked up the VTEC switch yet, but that shouldn't cause it not to start. .

Do I need the crank @ TDC when I put the dist in to start it?

Does the camshaft look right for a Z6? does the dist look like it is mounted correctly?

I'm gonna get another dist to make sure it's not the ignitor like i'm thinking, because I did what the manual said for error 15. . and the black/yellow wire got voltage, so it's goo until the dist, and I know the ecu is good. so that leaves ignitor like it says.

HELP!

Any more details needed let me know!

yes, I made sure I had 12V at the black/yellow wire like the instructions said. .

So i'm gonna order another working Dist. and see if that works.

Anyone at all ?? ?? ??
