i know how to pull the tranny and all that...but to install the final drive you have to open up the tranny...is this very hard, and it is hard to install the final drive components....does the helms manual have any great detail on this issue

 

Helm manual will walk you through the process. The actual process is not very hard, just be careful. Also keep in mind that the final drive -> differential bolts are reverse thread. The service manual tells you this, but I thought I'd mention it.

Just follow the instructions in the manual and you'll be fine.
