Default resgistering a non-op car in california..

its been along time, but a few years ago, i non-op'ed my CRX, and today i got my renewal in the mail...

if i remember correctly.. don't you have to go to a "test only" when you come out of non op?

I didn't have to when I registered my crx. However since I swapped a new engine in while it was non op I needed to go to the smog ref.

if you dont' drive your car, or that car specificaly, you dont' have to pay road fee's up keeping, to the state for a car your not driving.

instead of the measly 56$ a year, its 10.. can't get any better than that.

whether you get test only or not is based on where you live, they zone certain cars and areas.

we (my famaly) have been civic owners since the first one in 1973 and with the five civic's we have(had) we have allways had to go to a test only station.
so it's not random.

it is random.. lol, they just dont' like you.. lol

nah, its random.. but, i think after a few red flags they starting hitting you, i got a modified smog device once, (intake ) and the next 2 smogs were test only.

its hit and miss.. but i think with older cars, its almost a garentee your getting a test only.

my boss has a 86 toyota 22R engine in his pickup, and every renewal its test only.. i think they're waiting for that motor to finally croak.
