What are the differences between a DX and a STD hatch?
How can you tell if you have a DX or STD?

friend of mine had a 89 dx, and when i got mine he swore up and down that i had the si transmission because his dx was 4 spd. I dunno maybe some dx's had a 4 spd?

Civic STD (aka Civic CX in Canada):
D15B1 1.5L I-4 70hp.
4-speed manual transmission (automatic available in Canada only on base model)
Civic DX:
D15B2 1.5L I-4 92hp.
5-speed manual transmission with a 4-speed automatic option.
DX added cloth seats/door garnishes, a center console, cigarette lighter, rear cargo cover, rear cargo light, rear wiper, red reflective rear tail garnish, intermittent wipers, tilt steering wheel, DX rear emblem, rear seat overhead grab bars and coat hook, and ONLY IN 1991: Painted bumpers (in 88, 89, 90 all bumpers were black except for the Si.)
Power steering was available with automatic transmission.
Civic Si:
D16A6 1.6L I-4 108hp.
5-speed manual with no available automatic.
Had everything a DX had with the following: sunroof, black only interior with Recaro-designed seats, a tachometer, and a dead-pedal footrest. The Si had painted bumpers all years of production and painted mirrors. The door handles and trim stayed black however.
All other items were options that could be added to any trim level STD, DX, or Si:
A/C, AM/FM Stereo, Cassette, CD, rear speakers, floormats, rear cargo net, passenger side mirror (came standard on Si), armrest, door visors, vanity mirror for passenger (came standard with Si), and depending if you wanted to spend $700, you could add the Si gauges to have a tachometer.
The base model has a black non-reflective tail garnish, smaller tires (165/70/R13), black bumpers, no rear wiper, no trim emblem, vinyl seats and the 4-speed transmission.

Every DX had a 5-speed from the factory. Since the transmissions are interchangeable with the same series of engines, it would have been no problem to replace a worn out one. There were several 5-speeds in the EF, the HF CRX 5-speed which is essentially the STD 4-speed with an overdrive gear (will allow you to get 50+mpg), the DX 5-speed, and the Si 5-speed. You will have to look at the tranny code to know which 5 speed you have.

I agree with everything except the note about the canadian CX. I have one, and know people who have them, in canada the CX came with the d15b2 and the 5 spd tranny, but was dressed like the american STD. Also, in Canada the autotranny was available on the Si hatch also....

Intake looks like a generic EBAY item.
Holy blue wires Batman!
What is that on your wires? It looks like Nerf foam especially on the battery wires.
None the less, it's CLEAN!
Any tips??? How did you get all the dirt out that piles up next to the black plastic where the wipers are?
