Default Which of these two amps would you recommend?

MTX MXA4004 4-channel
http://www.circuitcity.com/det...4&m=0

vs.

Infinity 7540A 4-channel
http://www.circuitcity.com/det...8&m=0

I currently have Infinity Kappa 6.1 components in the front, but will be running factory rears. Also have an Infinity Kappa Perfect 12.1 DVQ subwoofer. Some guys have been telling me to just get a 2-channel for the fronts, and forget about powering the rears. Any insight?

Well, what common sense tells you?

Both amps go for the same price, tho the Infinity has more power than the MTX, the MTX has a lower total harmonic distortion factor (THD) so the sound will be clearer.

Check the spec of the speaker components you have and see which amp is more suitable. I also recommend to upgrade the rear speaker from factory to something more high end. This way your overall sound will be optimized and more pleasant to listen to.

Yeah I agree with Eric...get the MTX...and change the speakers on the rear deck...sound will be better, and you don't want to blow the rear OEM speakers...lol

the components have power handling of 100rms and 400max. If Im only putting 50rms into them, would they clip/distort?

they won't clip with too low pwr. They shouldn't distort. You just won't get the full potential of them
