Anyone near indiana that can help me do a engine swap on my ef
Ok heres the deal. I had this buddy that knows about cars and he is kind of a low life(well atleast i come to find out). I was friends with this guy for over a year. He trades cars like there candy. I had a 97 neon with 76,000 miles I traded to him for the ef hatch that had 197,000 miles. I traded because I figured I could trust him when he said nothing is wrong with it, and he is a mechanic. Well the day we go to trade theres oil all over the engine and he told me he left the cap off. I trusted him since he was a good friend. A 2 days after that when i get the car plated I drive it and the head blows and smoke comes pouring out. Long story short he books out of town and he isnt helping at all. Im only 18 and I am not mechanically inclined. I had a couple people look at it and the bottom end is shot as well. Oil and water mixed together. I had 3 guys say they were going to help me do the swap then they bail on me the day it comes time to do it and I took off work to do it. The car has been sitting for over a month and Im getting kind of desperate here. If anyone can help me swap a motor into my car I would be very thankful. I really dont want to have to get rid of it cause I love ef hatchs. If you can help me please email me at zeroskater0001@hotmail.com
Or if anyone has a car they would be interested in trading for mine I would be interested I just need somthing quick. The body is in real good shape just minor rust on quaters. Interior is immaculate. I prefer to swap it though. If you can help me some how or have suggestions please say somthing.
Idk I know of a few motors that people have. The ones I am considering is zc, another d16, or a d15. Im thinking of just attempting it myself. I know it cant be to hard. I know a guy that will sell me a engine hoist for 60 bucks and a bunch of tools cheap. Then I could get a honda manual so I know how everything goes back together. I'm mainly just looking for a little help.
Would a hayne's manual be helpful enough to get me through a swap? I know I would be able to pull the motor and figure out the odds and ends even though I never really worked on a car. The only thing I am worried about is getting everything hooked up after I swap it. Don't the d15, d16, and zc's wiring harness all hook right up? I have a 91 hatch si. I was told my harness will connect to any of those engines.
all of tose motors should bolt right in, except you will have to do the dpfi to mpfi swap which will be a little more wiring and i think you will have to get a si ecu or an old integra ecu , but i think everything else should bolt right up..
