Depends on the tranny you have.

I'd still pick the B16 tranny.

ive had both, a b16a with an ls tranny and a b16a with a jdm b16 tranny. let me tell you, i loved driving on the highway with the ls tranny, but it sucked around town. now, with the b16 tranny, i wont do over 70 on the highway, unless its shorts bursts. i cant stand seeing my nice *** jdm motor with the tach needle parked at 5k on the highway. just seems like it could wear down the motor so fast u know? BUT the b16 tranny is much better. i would rather has this trans that my old ls anyday.

I see your point about having the tach parked at 5k but the b16 can take it. that's why you have four oil jets in your block. I abuse my b16 on the reg. I've did 7.5k in 5th my b16 for 10-15 min. still runs like a champ.

yep, 4k at 70mph sounds about right. and thats with my j1 tranny. i dont like drivin far on the highway in my ride just cause of that fact. seems like im killin the motor but i guess thats what theyre made for right. to be driven.

i alwas usto do like 55 on the highway because i thought it would kill the motor.
but it sucks driving that slow. i now do about 70 at around 4000 rpms. iv taken a trip to boston(2 hour drive) at 75-80 mph the whole way there and back and it still runs mint

dudes.... you guys are serious right?

We do nothing but 70-75mph on the highways (speedlimit in Netherlands) and my cruising speed is around 80-85... ALL DAY LONG without problems...

mwuhahaaa.... and our cars easily do the normal 200k or more miles for lifespan... no worries there...

Must have aftermarket gears then.

ive sat in my cuz's 01 GS-R and it didn't seem this bad... B18C doesnt have this prob or is it on all DOHC VTEC motors (new iVTEC RSX,SI included)

LS A-1 tranny in my car gets 10 MPH to every 500 rpm in 5th gear.

So, 60 = 3k, 80=4k, 100=5k, etc etc etc.

I've pulled it up to 8k in 5th, but it got a little wobbly in the rear, so I let out, let the car slow back down, and it was gooood.

Ahhhhh. Better than morphine.

I know that is why mine is FI and loving it.

However everyone is right about one thing, B16 tranny would be the best choice. Close ratio to mate with the torqueless beast but you gotta change the 5th gear to the LS one for cruising.

Then you will have the best tranny for street and for driving.

I have no idea, I haven't got a tach put in my car since my swap, but it's given that it'll be at a higher rpm for the b16a, mine sounds that way, andI have the y1 lsd.

hell, i have driven to NY and back twice, doing 65-90 the whole way down. One quick stop for fuel, and the engine was sitting at 4-5K for 8 hours. Just rolled through 182k, and she still runs like a champ
