Default Different tires front and back

I am currently using Advan Neovas all round. If I use Azenis Sport for the front and Advan Neovas at the rear, would my car handle better on the turn-ins? I'm currently using Zeal B6 coilovers (harder at the back and softer in front). How would this set up (different tires) affect the handling? Car seems to understeer in tight turns. Someone had recommended that I swap the springs front to back but I didn't wanna do that yet as it would be too bumpy for the streets. So I'm looking into tires now. Comments?

suspension is the proper way to tune the car....not by tires....you are just hiding a problem if you are doing it with tires...

Sometimes its the only tool you have, if restricted by r00lz.

To add to what chad said, running different tires F and R may change the balance to feel more favorable, but would not result in the optimal grip that would come from having Azenis at all four corners and adjusting the suspension to find the desired balance.

When I was autocrossing in the stock class I ran differnt size tried font at rear, and hte car felt real good like that. I used to Run 215/50/14 in the front and 195/60/14 in the rear on my stock rims and the car rotated well. I would not run differnt tires front and rear, I did ths when my R1's wore out on the front and the car did not feel as good until I put Kuhmo's all around.

I have no idea what a Neova is but I'm assuming since you see it nowhere in STS competition its not as grippy.

huh? There is no reason why you can't use different size tires to tune a chassis. And there isn't any rule that says you have to use the chassis to do all of the tuning. I have seen very successful setups with 225's in the front and 205's in the rear on CRX's. Can you force the chassis to give the same balance, sure. Problem is it may involve a spring change or a anti-rollbar change (if of course you have an adjustable anti-rollbar).

Thanks guys on your comments. I've been using neova's in the last few auto-x's. Haven't been doing much rotation of switching front to back. Front tires are now 50% thread, rear 70% thread. I feel the fronts are not as grippy compared to when i first had them installed. The launching has more wheelspin now compared to previous. This made me thnk of changing to new azenis sport. At this point i don't want to swap the rear tires to the front, as i know the front tires are not that good anyway.

slammed_93_hatch,
It was quite apparent to me that the azenis sport has more grip than the neova ad07's. I've followed different cars with these 2 tires on them, and my bonnet is prove to that.

thats probably cause its not a US tire. and not DOT legal.

i have some that came on my ITR wheels when i upgraded my brakes.

interesting, with mine i was doing just fine and they griped great.

i don't think mine are ad07's though i haven't noticed that on the tire

Then why would anyone want to autocross with it? It would just push you into the Prepared or Modified classes, wouldn't it?

He said it here:

So I assumed that was his main concern as far as handling was concerned.

Running Azenis just in the front will give you some oversteer (or just less understeer depending on how much understeer you already have).

As Chad mentioned it is a band-aid fix. Some people like to solve their understeer problems with smaller tires in the back but I would rather reduce understeer with suspension changes then lowering the overall grip level of the car (rule permitting of course).
