Civic pinging/rattling real bad all of a sudden.
Its a 96 Civic DX. 106k miles.
In the morning when I start it to go to work, it will start pinging/rattling pretty bad when i start driving. 1st 2nd gears are the worst.
Once it runs for awhile and warms up it will not be as bad at all. Then you can't even hear it unless I really give it some gas, like getting on the highway, then I can hear like a rattling/pinging noise.
Any ideas of what I can do. ?
Thanks.
Jon

Where's is it coming from? Underneath you I'm guessing heat shield (i think thats whats it called)lol
You should try to describe it better (the rattling/pinging). What rattles? Does the steering wheel shake at all? Does it sound like any type of rubbing?

^ after reading I think that that is my thought also. When the car is running do you put your ear to where the noise is? Does it sound like its under the valve cover?
