How to convert intake unit back to OEM?
I bought my hatch with aftermarket intake installed so im not sure how the OEM was hooked up compared to the aftermarket one. I have a 98 dx but now with a d16y8 manifold. I want to install the OEM intake. On the OEM unit it has like 3 holes for sensors but on my aftermarket one all there is is a hose runing from the pipe to the nipple on the top left spot on my valve cover. Can someone provide me with some directions, id realy appreciate it.
i would normally say search, but here you go

that is the diagram and parts for a '98 dx coupe, if it's a sedan should be the same

But i am not using that intake. I have a dx with a d16y8 manifold and i will be installing a d16y8 OEM intake unit. There are 2 holes on the OEM unit. I have an aftermarket one right now that only has 1 hole (intake to nipple on valve cover). What is the other hole on the OEM unit used for? Do i just plug it up?
on my 00 d16y8 there is actually 3 holes
1 for iat sensor, 1 for valve cover, 1 for coolant(i think)
but on 96-98 you just have 2
1 for iat sensor and 1 for valve cover
do you not have an iat sensor no more

thats what i thought too, but barely anything if any comes from that hose into the intake arm
just look on a 99-00 ex to see what i am talking about
trust me i am not stupid (well not that stupid)

The 3 holes are going to be, as you said, The Air Intake Temp, One for the Valve cover breather, and the other is not coolant, but rather a "Air Assist Valve". This is only on the 99-00 Civic D16y8 equipped with "Air Injection" However, the air assist valve DOES sit on top of the Thermostat housing. (Don't break it, its $93.00 for that little plastic B*tch). Earlier Civic models do not have the Air Injection system, therefore only have 2 holes in the stock intake housing. (AIT, and Valve Breather)That is the subtraction to the system.
Hope that helps a little
