Quietest 3 inch exhaust.....
Is there such a thing or am i stuck with loud 3 inch catbacks.....i live in california and drive by cops too often....i need a good 3 inch exhaust that doesnt catch the attention of cops...thanks...
had mine custom made,Full 3" with a 3" dynamax super turbo..sounds better and is quieter than any aftermarket exhaust Kit out..with no stupid looking fart tip either.
Im thinking about keep my tanabe RM muffler and getting some 3'' custom piping made so I can still slap on the silencer for long road trips. I couldnt stand driving long trips w/ my tanabe rm w/o the silencer b4 my turbo was on. So damn loud.

Does the 5 zigen fireball come with 3 inch or 2.5 inch piping??....i'm looking to get that or custom piping with es muffler....
How much do you think that the custom 2.5 piping with the es muffler cost??....I'm think of asking them to add a resenator also to quite it down even more....
I love the way the thermal exhaust looks. Looks so powerful
Thermal is not all /that/ loud with a turbo. I mean... sure it is loud... but it is a deep rumbing loud.. not a tinny riceboy buzzy exhaust. It may benefit from a mid pipe resonator like christian added.

a custom 3 inch exhuast is always a good idea... i personally love custom exhausts.(and custom turbos) As far as being quiet, I really dont know. A DynoMAX superturbo is a good muffler, but far from ideal for a turbo set up because it is not straight through. I believe Borla has a 50 state legal on their mufflers... check that to make sure. They make great straight through mufflers and are more than well known for quality products. MagnaFlow is also a great one, probably not 50 state legal, but its not too loud. Those coffee can mufflers work well too... the ones with a silencer are cool. Loud & deep tone without silencer with high top end power... Quiet & Ricey sound with silencer with low to mid range power. So this answers someones question as to if this would defeat the purpose of a performance exhaust. Greddy is great with being 50 state legal. I dont know if they offer a 3" or not. However, back to a custom exhaust... 3" aluminized steel/ stainless steel piping. Mandrel bent and welded OR you can have them make brackets so that you can bolt them on or off. 3" cat. 3" resonator. 3" muffler. And you have a great custom turbo exhaust! All this should be relatively cheap too... compared to an aftermarket exhaust. I have driven by a lot of cops in my loud *** exhaust and so far so good, but if they ticket me... pop on the silencer and get it written off. However, a certificate would be even better. Look for 50 state legal just for that security.
This helped too and my car is realy loud as hell, cause I have no turbo to quiet it down. More pics on my link to webshots.
i am very interested..

MagnaFlow and DynoMAX make resonators. They usually sell for about $100. Check local muffler shops... they should have resonators...
Also piping usually runs about $100.

I think that mandrel bent won't even make that much of a difference...The crush bent custom exhausts run around 125 bucks for a catback around here.
I called up Thermal today, and the rep told me that for no extra charge, they can install a 2.5" (****, can't think of the name of it) resonator type thing inside the muffler that will muffle the sound by an additional 5 db or so. He said it doesn't change the pitch at all, just quiets it down a little, and for the amount of boost I'm running it shouldn't rob very much, if any horsepower. Wait time is 3 extra days to get this thing.
Anyone have this?
