trunk deck brake lights
just replaced 3 bulbs in rear of car,,,,for some reason the brake light bulbs are not working on the trunk rear lights,,,,,,,2002 accord,,,the bulbs are fine but not working in those 2 sockets,,,any ideas? thanks guys
yes,,fuses are good.....does any one else have a 2002 accord,,,because there is a small harness that is not connected to anything in the wiring cluster.but this may just be for the cars that come equipped with spoilers with third brake lights,,i am baffled here
well, if your car doesn't have a spoiler, then there should be a 3rd brake light. cars that do have spoilers, have 3rd brake lights i believe, but they are not connected.
Tinter2004, I just had the opposite problem and solved it today. My other post was "Accord high mount stop light." Got some good suggestions from the list, but wound up spending some time with the factry service manual. There is a "failure sensor" in the right hand trunk side brake light. They leave a pin out of it which would send power to your trunk deck brake light. I am guessing here that you have a spoiler with a LED brake light in it. Is that right? If so, Honda took a different tack from Toyota. T keeps power to the trunk deck light even if the corrolla has a spoiler brake light. Looks tacky.
Honda de-powered the high mount center stop light so the wing would look cooler with its own brake light, I guess.
Bottom line, replace tth failure sensor with a stock one from Honda parts. Do this: remove the failure sensor, take it with you to Honda. Ask fo r a stock failure sensor. Compare the pins on yours with the new one (before youbuy!) You should see the missing pin on the new one. I did this on my daughter's 91 accord because I removed the wing with its brake light.
