Selling a car with mods scare people away?
Hey guys, haven't posted here in a long time, but getting ready to sell my Integra and pondering whether or not I should put it back to stock or not.
Anybody know whether or not having mods on the car scares people away?
The only mods that are on my car are some old Skunkworks springs (around 60k miles on them) and some Koni Yellow shocks (maybe 30k on them). I still have the stock shocks and springs and would sell them with the car if I left the mods on. The car also has the ITR rear sway bar (would stay on it) and an upgraded clutch (pedal still the same stiffness) and a lightened flywheel. Those would stay on since I don't want to both with them. The car itself is a frost white '96 GSR with about 131k miles on it.
I'm not so concerned about getting my moneys worth out of the mods, but mainly just getting the car sold.
Thanks!

dont talk about what isnt visible unless they ask. but in general people do not want to buy a car that is modified because they see it as having been beat on
Very true...If your market is old ladies then return to stock...If you get serious bits on here than leave it alone. The second would be alot easier.
as a general rule (unless you are selling a highly modified car or show car) a stock car will appeal to more buyers and get more $$$$ than a modified one. Also most aftermarkets parts would be considered worthless to the buyer so you can't factor in what you paid for those parts new. And if it is modified... it HAS BEEN BEAT ON. I think its dumb when I see people advertise their cars with HEAVY modifications (cam, exhaust, head work, ECU, NOS) and end the whole paragraph with "never raced". haha.

I agree.
I agree.
Never had exhaust or anything on it. I would take it to the road track once in a while and fell in love with handling more than horsepower.
The main reason I ask is because I'm not really looking forward to putting them back on. I would do it if it helped sell it enough, but it is not what I consider fun anymore.

I wouldn't buy a car that someone else has heavily modified. I would rather buy a car stock and do the work youself. This may cost you more money in aftermarket parts, but it makes the car more your own, instead of it being someone elses. I'd return it to stock, as much as you can.

Well having the mods probably won't get you any more money for the car than you would if it was stock. I just paid $500 for new Konis....if I were you I would swap the stock suspension back and sell the Konis and springs. Yeah it may not be fun, but it would get you a few hundred bucks easy....

Those mods shouldnt scare potential buyers way, as long as the words Boost or NOS arent involved it shouldnt scare cats away. Your car is pretty much stock, you might want to place it in Newsday or something, you might get a even better price than you would on here.
People who complain that they're beent rying to sell their modded teg, are people who are attempting to get their money back for their mods in the sale price of the car. Your mods are well done and reasonable, adn as long as you're not seeking to get your money back for them, you should have no problem selling your GSR.
