Anyone see a problem with installing this Odometer?
Alright guys, I have a '93 CX with an unknown number of miles. It doesn't have the original cluster in it, nor do I have the original cluster for reference. The current cluster matches neither the chassis nor the motor.
In a few weeks, I will be installing a freshly rebuilt motor. Anyone see a problem with installing this odometer so that the cluster atleast matches the motor?

i dont think it'd be a problem being that most modded cars have a different motor anyway and most clusters are swapped for JDM/CDM/EDM counterparts...so eh' who cares...go for it.
I'm not sure how that would fall under a law or breaking a law. The real issue is trying to sell it with a false odometer reading. (i.e. 92 civic w/ only 10K..buy it now on ebay for $10K) kinda stuff. HTH.
I don't know how it is in other states, but here in Minnesota there is a check box on the title for "vehicle mileage unknown."

Same way here in PA. I think the only thing you have to worry about is people asking questions if/when you go to sell it. It may come up on carfax as odometer fraud also.

we'll i know here in tennessee it wouldn't matter because any vehicle over 10 years is exempt from mileage

in cali at least thats illegal and you can get in alot of trouble for it.
in cali when they smog your car they write down the mileage, if it is lower then the last time you will get in trouble, the mileage thing isn't for the motor its for the chassi

it doesnt matter so long as you dont try and claim differnt miles (lower) on your title when transfering or doing emmioons ect..
Smog? Emissions testing? What are these things I always hear about?
Nothing like that in Alabama

my buddies dad put in a new odometer in his truck but the mileage was wrong. He sold it and the people bought it after running a carfax and saw the problem. Well they sued him for odometer fraud and won ... sucks ... but thats chicago for ya
I wouldn't try to pass it off as original mileage, I'd definitely tell them what was up. Not that I plan to sell the car (again) anytime soon!
I swapped the cluster in my hatch with an si cluster around the time the car was being registered at the dmv so it shows the mileage of the original cluster and the mileage of the si cluster when they were swapped. the only bad thing is carfax shows it as POSIBLE odometer fraud.

The DMV isn't concerned with how much milage is on the car after that point. It's the same here in NY. And there is a "actual milage unknown" check box as well. There's a thread on here that tells you how to roll the odometer *ONLY TO MATCH THAT OF YOUR CURRENT ODOMETER. You could do that so you still know the actual chassis milage.

I don't know the chassis mileage
My current cluster matches neither my chassis nor motor.
