hydro tranny problem
My friend just recently bought a car. His clutch was fine until a couple of weeks ago then his pedal started sticking to the floor. Is there a reason for this. Also what are the advantages to having a hydro tranny over a cable, also what are the downsides. Thanks
Advantages of having a Hydro tranny:
There are more of them out there with no grinds, as opposed to cable.
I have heard that Hydro trannies are stronger.
If you ever decide to buy say an EG/EK, you can take your tranny with you if you're gonna swap a B-series in it.
Shifting is much smoother.
Disadvantages:
At this time they are more expensive than cable trannies.
You need a new mount kit from Hasport ot make it work, or add a whole hydro assembly.
You need a few other parts here and there to make it fit (i.e. 92+ clutch disc, throwout bearing, a rear T bracket with bigger holes and new bolts, etc)
I can't think of any else right now, I am sure the others will.

Well the reason I went with a Hydro tranny was because I was tired of all the cable trannies grinding, and also because cable trannies are slowly becoming extinct.

92 and up have thicker gears whereas the 90-91 have thinner gears thats what makes them somewhat weak. They are more or less older and that is why most of them grind. They have more wear and tear on them.
