rebuilding hybrid b series cable tranny
Im working on a blown up jdm b16a tranny. (first let me say im a big sohc guy and have never worked on a b series tranny before) I know that the tranny is not a y1 lsd (no stampings and closed diff) therefore i guess im not to sure about the tranny code but im pretty sure about the grear ratios:
S4C/S80/......................YS1
Y80/Y21
Engine B16A...............B18A1
1st 3.230.....................3.166
2nd 2.105....................1.857
3rd 1.458.....................1.259
4th 1.107.....................0.935
5th 0.848.....................0.742
Reverse 3.000..............3.000
Final Drive 4.400..........4.400
My question is: because at least one of the gears is messed up (no teeth) and he dose not want to put alot of money into it. Can i just use the, diff and whatever gears are good and throw them into the good ys1 (91 integra ls) tranny?
i guess i dont need to swap final drives because they are the same
thoughts.?

there are also the J1,S1,and Y1 trannies along with the YS1. Y1 came with optional LSD as the J1,S1 didnt. As far as i know you cant use the USDM parts in the JDM trannies ( maybe with the exclusion of the YS1 ). Talk to Gearspeed he knows exactly what you can do.

Well basically, the y1,s1,j1,a1 are small splined trannies. The gearshafts are similar in size to whats in a d-series trans. The ys1 was the last cable tranny, but its a large splined trans (like the hydro b-series trannys). So unfortunatly, you probably will not be able to swap gearsets. Also, FYI, the y1 has a 4.266 final drive.
