if you plan on running a 00 b16...get a 00 si harness along with the 99-00 si ecu. If you plan on getting this motor...just make sure it has everything and it should be a plug and play

interior harness is different. have to stick with the 96-98 ex or modify your dx harness. I use type r ecu for my car.

You should use the 96-98 EX harness. You have to extend some of the wires. Im using the Si ECU (P2T) and there are a lot of problems. My friend just finished his swap in his 98 and is using the GSR (P72) and its running excellent. You have to move the pin for the IACV to make it work. PM me if you need more details.

i jus did the same swap in my 97 ek dont use the si harness or ecu. im stuck with both, if youre car was a 00 it would be another story. just rewire youre stock harness for vtec and use a 97 gsr ecu. you can use a 97ex harness id jus rewire the stock one you never know if the car the ex harness came off of had electrical prob of some sort.

all that and a 0bd2a -> obd2b harness jumper too in order to be p&p

u can use your existing harness and modify the harness
get a 96-98 ex harness and itll plug and play, but you would have to use a 96-98 vtec ecu
or
get a 99-00 ex harness and everything will plug and play, u can use the 00 si ecu

What harness did your friend use? Any GSR ecu would work or is there certain years?

depending on what harness you use, like the guy said his friend used a 96-98 harness, then his friend must have use a 96-98 gsr ecu, this is OBD2a. 99-00 are OBD2b.

some of the wires are different on the ecu side.

96-98 civic = obd2a
99-00 civic = obd2b
96-99 intega = obd2b

you'll have trouble running the obd2b ecu b/c obd2a cars are missing the fuel tank pressure sensor. i would use the engine harness for the motor (99 si) and use a obd2b p72. if you need to bar it, i would buy a p2t and put the insides of the p72 into the p2t ecu case to pass visual.

Im surprised no one has suggested to use the 96-97 Del Sol DOHC VTEC ecu instead of a GSR ecu.

Del Sol ecu would work better than a P72. I have a P72 and it runs a little more lean than a Del Sol ecu would, at least that's what I have been told on numerous occasions. Good luck!

thats what i was thinking... re-wire your current harness w/ the VTEC and nessecary wires and pop the 96-97 del sol vtec ecu in there and you're golden.

yea that's what i am using currently on my EK hb. It was just soo much easier and passed smog no problem w/ the 96-97 Del Sol ecu. i just added the wires for vtec and the crank angle sensor. Runs like a champ.

Can someone else confirm me besides AL ASPIRATED that with a 00 si b16a2 swap in my 97 ek hatch, I can use a 99-00 civic ex engine harness with the 00 si ecu?

no you cannot use the 99-2000 civic ex harness in your 97 ek. different plugs unless you plan on doing it the hard way and just rewire everything. Your best bet is to get the OBD2a ECU(96-99 gsr or 96-97 B16a2) or the right wiring harness(obd2a engine harness like from a 96-98 ex). Trying to use that 99-00 CIVIC Si ECU will just give you engine and wiring problems. IMO, Ditch the 99-00 CIVIC Si ECU. Alot less headaches...

An OBD2a engine harness is different from an OBD2b harness. 2 different plugs. Keep that in mind, AL ASPIRATED is talking about the underdash engine harness that will change the ECU plugs to use the OBD2b/CIVIC Si ECU.
