V-TEC power or SR20 power?
i have a 92 hatch with a gsr swap and the guy that used to own the car wants it back and he said he'd give me 6000 for it. If i sell it i think i wanna get a S13 but im undecisive so help me out i just wanna here some peoples opinions.

A honda civic is in a completely different class than a Nissan 240SX with SR20

Ok so maybe its not bad, but for the money and gains, a SR powered 240 beats a civic 10 times out of 10

SR20's are for babies. Get an RB20/25/26.
I had a swapped S13. It was FUUUUN. Unfortunatley too much crap was breaking and I didnt have the money so I sold it. Looking back I should have kept it. But I also wanted an S13 in better condition body wise. I still keep an eye out for a good swap candidate

from experience with helping a friend getting his to run right....they are a PITA because they always seem to have something wrong with them and if you have any kind of power you will need a LSD (just like any car)
there are a bunch of things that you need to take in as a factor...I personally would not sell the car if it is really nice and you like it....who cares if he wants it back, it is your now. Just get what you like and not what we think you should get
it is all up to you whether you have FF or FR power....I honestly think that the Honda has a better ability to handle than almost any Nissan

Do you know anyone in your area that works on the SR20 DET engine?
If not, then keep the Civic.
Comparing these cars is stupid. We could go back and forth all day long about why we each like one car/engine over another, but in the end it is all personal preference.
I personally stay with Honda because it's what I know. I don't feel like relearning everything about my car to do labor that is pretty simple on my current cars.
The SR20 can make awesome power on a stock bottom end, but once you have problems (boost = problems eventually) it can be very expensive or even impossible to get things fixed if you don't have the time, money, or resources to get it fixed.
BTW:
We can talk engines all day, but also be aware that many of the older S13 chassis 240s have absolutely shitty suspensions due to age. I'd bank on replacing all of the bushings, etc.
If not, then keep the Civic.

yes there are a couple of ppl. in my area that work on sr20 motors
i know they are totally diff cars but im not by any means a honda mechanic yet so switching wouldnt be that hard

I would personally stick to the Civic for the fact I know Honda. You could talk to me about a Nissan and I'll be lost. Not only that hard to find a guy who knows a lot about Nissans.

Its me, the Nissan guy again, breakin in with Nissan input. Reading this, nobody bothered to note the Bluebird, Sunny, Pulsar, GTi-R, SSS, SUPER SALOON, and whom other Nissans I appologetically missed. These are all front wheel drive Nissans, with turbo power.

because the 200sx has solid beam rear suspension and the NEOs are still pricey. Awesome, Nissan perfected the "V-TEC" with the VVL. Most dont realize that Porsche "came up with v-tech" (yes v-tech as Porsche called it), but Nissan back all the way was out running Porsche as far back as 67. Look at the history. Not until the GT2 at $250000 did Nissan get beat by Porsche.
totally wrong on the sr-20 power vs honda power... got a gsr sol and i murdered a sr-20 240... and we had the same mods.. so that not tru! and the gsr sol was running on snow tires! hook up was impossible!
Birds sol, you cant compare a sol to a 240. Thats like a prop plane to a jet plane. The 240 is no light car, and if you are running the similar mods, well, simalar mods make one go fast, the other make power. Power doesnt make a car fast, you still need to be balanced, light, and hook up is important. I know the sol is heavy but there is only one honest conclusion.
a. the car had a turbo ka24 (the flinstones were faster than a turbo 24)
b. motor trouble/turbo trouble
c. ******** couldnt drive
d. you dont know what your talking about.

lol, are you trying to say the sol is light? My buddies Delsol Si w/ GSR turbo is a tad over 2,700lbs. I call that a hog.
