Default Catalyic converter

Its really weird, there are these like metal shavings, type looking things coming out of my tail pipe, some people say it might be my catalyic converter, or it could be my muffler, i have a greddy sp catback exhaust if that helps any. Please any help would be great. Thx

I've seen metal shaving from mufflers that have gotten too hot, if that helps any. If you have an obd2 car, it will tell you if the cat has failed with a check engine light, since the oxygen sensor after the cat monitors the cat.

it could be the muffler because mufflers have steel wool in them. but theyre really small and shouldnt come out.

LOL...you have the same problem as I and many people have had with the GREDDY SP mufflers! Those mufflers are POS GARBAGE (after having 2)...they all fell apart internally. First, you'll have fiber glass packing cubes coming out of your muffler, then eventually, you'll have a brillow pad mesh type material clogging up the tip. Once you pull that crap out, your muffler is completely hollowed out. What happened is that there has been moisture build up inside of the muffler, causing the piping inside of the muffler to corode and detatch..once that happens, its all down hill from there! I emailed greddy asking what they plan to do about this.....and of course, NO RESPONSE! TO GREDDY SP EXHAUST SYSTEMS!
