I could get a 91 civic hatch but theres no motor. I wanted to know if the d15 and d16 use the same transmission. I dont know what engine was in it before but it has a new tranny, clutch, and front axle. The car is at the shop i work at and can get it for cheap, but dont know what kind of engine i need. I hope i can get a d16 for cheap and spend less than $2000 on this project.

 

all 88-91 CRX/Civic transmissions will interchange, however the D16 (Si) transmission has a different final drive than the D15 (DX) - if the hatch is a (D15) STD model, it would have a 4 speed transmission
