I got into my car, pushed the clutch pedal down and turned the key but it just wont turn on.

It tries to start but it just wont. My guess is the main relay. Would that be correct? If so, how much should I expect to pay for a new one? How do I replace it?

P.S. I do not have any soldering skills to "repair" it so I guess i'll have to buy a new one.

Try push starting it, if it does start that way maybe a fuse or bad starter...

That's not really an option right now...

The reason I think it's the Main relay is because this usually happens during the hot weather after being driven, turned off, then restarted. Today, its HOT as hell and my car's been sitting in the sun all day. It was the first time I went to start it all day. So maybe its the heat affecting the main relay solder.

That's my GUESS. Anyone else have any other ideas? I'm all out of money to go get another main relay so that sucks.

 

sounds like main relay, it wont let the fuel pump turn on, my car did the same in the heat. Just turn key twice to exce. here if the fuel pump turns on. probubly wont, and if it does turn on,then try to start the car, and i bet it will start. Thats the main relay, there not to much money to get, and u just unplug your old one plug the new one in. I have extra ones if you need

 

yah possibly the main relay.

try switching one out of another car to see if it corrects your problem.

why cant you push start it ?

 

Does the CEL come on and go off after two seconds and can you hear your fuel pump prime?

Yeah the CEL comes on and goes off as usual but I don't even know what to listen for when you say the fuel pump priming. on me.

 

Listen by your back seats, put the car in the on position, you should hear your fuel pump turn on and turn off.

 

I was listening for that because i read somewhere here on ht that I should be able to hear a noise from the fuel pump.

Last time i tried to turn it on i didnt hear anything.

 

How would I go about taking the main relay out?

Also, would this affect anything else other than my fuel pump?
