Default update on my Stolen R...

Well i mentioned that there were somethings in development.

1st, Godbless tracking devices my car was found minutes after i reported it to the company.

It's unknown what the damage is @ this point i find out tomorrow.

Bad news is that they didn't catch them,... yet, they set-up surveillance but were unable to catch them.

That is great news... nice to hear a tracking device work for once. I hope the damage is not very bad - at this point it sounds pretty positive...

The comapany name is Boomerang and is very big up here in Canada, they just signed a deal with Cingular in the US, so you guys should look out for this.
http://www.Boomerangtracking.com

Things are going to get better in terms of tracking because of the US e911 gpsOne tracking mandate for wireless companies in the US. there will be a ton of telematics (for tracking kids and stuff) next year.

PS they can track you with your phone today although not very acurate yet (depends on network).

I work for a a mobile company here and i know my phone was in a different location from the car. The Police and I have a relatively good idea where the "Phone" may be.

But it's OK that they got away for now because they will get cancer and die. Kinda harsh i know.

This has to be the best news I have heard all year! I've been thinking about this all day.

I hope all is well tomorrow when you get a chance to give her a thorough exam.

Regards,

So many R are stolen in Toronto in these few weeks. This doesn't look good.

It seems like Toronto thieves are the only ones brave enough to steal it from a garage.

watch your car carefully in the coming month... chances are they will be back, now that they know you have something for recovery.. and if they looked for it, now they know where it isn't and have better odds of finding it now..

happed to a friend of mine..

Lo Jack is always mounted in the same place. If a thief is smart enough, he will find it in about 20 mins and disable it.

it's about $500 cnd so should be $250USD (i can't believe the rate). and yes there is a monthly sub fee it should be about $5-$10.

It's not just the device it's the process in which how the logistics of implementation is handled from which dealers they select and the location in which they select for a vehicle is different for the same car.

Boomerang ver 2 is awesome - there are 2 devices one in the car and a key fob. If your car moves without the key fob, Boomerang triggers an autosearch. So you could be sleeping and Boomerang will already be on it.

Again, it's all about layers of security Noise, prevention, and tracking.

Most good stereo shops install Boomerangs...Altered Sound in Oakville does them.

You said it use cell phone to monitor.

So i assume there must be a cell phone somewhere in the car to transmit the signal?

Wow, I'm impressed with the Boomerang2, but right now it is only available in two Canadian provinces...

An explaination from their website:

HOW DOES BOOMERANG2 WORK?

Upon the installation of Boomerang2, you will be given two special remotes (transponders) that you must keep with you at all times. You must attach them to your key chains, one on your regular key chain and the other on the spare key.

If your vehicle moves without the presence of one of your transponders,

• The Boomerang tracking team will immediately start tracking your vehicle.
• At the same time, they will attempt to notify either you or the authorized contact person you indicated on your service agreement.
• Either yourself or the contact person will have to contact the police to get a report number.
• We will not delay tracking your stolen vehicle but require a police report number in order to return the stolen property to authorities.
• The police will then contact you or your authorized person.

Yeah...it looks pretty cool, I sent them an e-mail asking for information about sales in California...hopefully they will return my e-mail sometime tomorrow, will post information as it arrives.
