Default How much performance is lost by routing wastegate pipe into exhaust???

I have a TIAL wastegate and at WOT it is loud as hell (don't care for it too much).
I have read the other thread regarding this but no one touched on performance loss. Any thoughts on this???

TIA

If its done around 18" after the turbo you have little to no loss. Thats how we used to make our downpipes. But we no longer do the the CL anymore.

Art, where can I get a 90 degree angle for my DRAG kit for directing the wastegate sideways?

TIA

No mas? Did you use that because it is flexible? Can I just route solid pipe to my exhaust? What is the extra bung for?

Im sure a complete pipe could be welded on there, anything is possible. The 2nd bung is ther because its a OBDII Gsr.

Hmm...I see why you have the 2nd bung because it's an OBDII car, but if there is no catalytic converter being used, why have a bung for the second oxygen sensor when it's just going to throw a code anyway?

No code if you use a 96 P72 ecu. I did the same thing.

MiraiZ....
How do you come up with 10- 15% loss? What are you basing your estimate on?

Actually this is not my estimate, I read this in a book by Corky Bell. Expect about 10 to 20 HP loss on a 200WHP engine...more as whp goes up...

Thats a lot of HP!!...but I also think its sales talk too, because people will automatically think that they can gain 44hp by going OL...

It is too bad that this wind force is wasted.I may just reroute the wastegate exhaust in to my IC piping...hehe
Anyone have any opitions besides changing wastegates (I have a TIAL) to make this thing shut up a bit?
To me, it just sounds like a car with an exhaust leak

I remember someone mentioning an exhaust kit for the WG...(ie separate muffler etc) it could quiet it down without going completely CL.

i don't see how you would loose 15% whp going closed loop.

So this kit you speak of would hamper performance as well(?)... might as well route your pipe into the exhaust.

My tial makes the same loud-*** sound under WOT. I need an EBC bad, because it seems like it starts to open waaay too soon. I'm open loop also.

Will the EBC quiet down the wastegate?

Arturbo, Where was that downpipe manufactured? I need something nice like that. My downpipe now is basically a cobbled together POS that doesn't leak exhaust, which is all I was worried aobut in the beginning.

I need one for an EF, B16a with HASport mounts. I know it's tight, but I also want to keep A/C.

I sell those downpipes for Drag 3 and Rev-hard kits. Its basically a 2.5" flare into 3".
