not the most accurate way, but it proves my point, that the cams are the exect same.

now heres the $50,000 question, why did they use the bigger cam on the 01, and why is it rated the same HP as the 98, if you know the first part you will know the second.

good luck the clocks ticking

the reason i was told was to compensate for AC being standard.

2000/01 has more stringent emissions. In order to reach the same excellent emissions, Honda had to tone down the ECU maps. To keep power at 195, they added this intake cam, along with different intake springs.

Right from the mouth of Honda god.. aka.. Ben from Germain Honda. Those in Naples, FL know who I am talking about.
He's won American Honda Top Tech 3 years in a row. Top Tech is a "contest" which involves the best 200 technicians in the country.

This guy is so hard core Honda, if you stab him.. he bleeds blue.

Back to subject, I've told people for the past year that the 01 ITR and CTR cams were the same. People had a hard time believing this. Ask DRog from Texas.

camera angles are playing tricks on my eyes... someone fill me in a bit.

No, I'd say that the 00+ ITR's make more power. I dunno if anyone has compared ECU maps, but the 00+ were the first to start making awesome 1/4 times as a whole; there were few that did it on the 98-. I've seen this from personal experience ('98 ITR's running low 15's-15 flat and '01 running 14.8 with similar 60').

I mean, they do dyno at 160ish and the gsr at 145-50ish, so that's not 25hp.

Soooo, my theory is the US pre '00 ITR is overated. Wonder how the JDM '98 spec ITR has similar power rating with parts that are proven to make more power?

I agree, there is a lot of evidence to support the fact that the newer Rs are more powerful. This thread demonstrates one critical reason why. Good job!

The 98Spec JDM ITR Intake cam is the same as the 00Spec US ITR cam, which makes me wonder about the CTR cam Vs the 98Spec JDM ITR cam, has anyone ever checked the profiles of the 2? Frank?

Maybe the JDM ECU is different? Maybe the emissions program is different there?

Not sure. But if you think about it.. JDM has like 5-10 more hp than USDM ITR.

Take a USDM ITR, 98 spec.. add a CTR or 00 ITR intake cam, JDM ITR pistons, and a JDM 4-1 header... even IF there is stock exhaust and stock airbox on it.. I guarantee it'll pull more than 200-210 flywheel hp.

So to confirm, Mike or Frank, they 00 and 01 ITR cams are the same?

So by the transitve property, the 00 ITR cam is the same as the CTR cam?

Thanks...

Frank, remember this discussion on Hybrid? I knew I wasn't crazy (I mean, wheather it's true or not, I wasn't the only who thought that).

But what's truly funny, is those 00+ ITR owners that installed the CTR intake cam and talked about how they could feel the power

hahahaa. I know, sometimes your mind can sike you out.

ive never had both at the same time to compare so im not really sure

the CTR cams only gives 2 more whp over the 97-98 ITR cams. I doubt anyone can feel 2 whp. If anyone can feel it, you must have 1 very sensitive ***.....
I know every lil bit counts, but I do not understand people going through the hassle of switching from a 98 intake cam to 01 intake cam for just 2 whp???!!!???
