89 crx taillights wont turn off.
This is stock taillights. I was inside tonight and my gf's dad said my taillights were on and i went out to turn of the headlights and realized they were already off. But for some reason the taillights are still lit up. What could cause the lights to turn on when the headlights are turned in off position? Someone help me I had to uplug my taillights to make sure the battery wouldn't get drained.

check to see if it is your brake light switch there was a post on it the other day the switch is on the back side of the brake and it is blue is what they said
WHen you disconnected the bulbs did you check the wires to see if there was voltage going thru them? Sounds like there is a short or incorrect wiring here.
Did you check the actuall switch you or lever you turn the lights on with? Maybe there is a problem there that is not properly closing that line.

yup..go out there and look under your dash..actually..see if theres a little broken blue pointy looking thingie on your floorboard first..that would be the broken piece that pushes in on the brake light switch..if there is a ..follow the brake pedal arm up under the dash to see the switch and how to gerry rig a screw in that hole to depress the switch...hope this helps (and hopefully you can make sense of my late night "retardese")

It's definately the brake switch. The exact same thing happened to my friend's 89 rex. Although, have fun because it's a MAJOR PAIN to fix. It's under the dash.
