Default sway bar question

i have an 89 civic hatch and im building it for mainly autox and hopefully soon for road course, but my question is, should i upgrade both front and rear sway bars or just rear? i ordered the suspension tech kit for both front and rear today but was told that a lotta people say you should only upgrade the rear? is this true or am i better off putting both front and rear on? they are 22mm bars. any info or feedback on this would be greatly appreciated.

Most people here will say : thick aftermarket rear bar, with either the oem front, or no front at all. But it depends on your preference. However, if you search the archives of this forum, you'll find all the info you need.

Before anyone can suggest what to do we need to know what you have on your car. What spring/shock set-up are you using, What tires, alignment, etc

I am in the same delema, as I too have an 89 DX, and I am wondering about a sway bar set up. I have Tein HAs ITR rear LCAs. I am going to run the front sway bar, and I am looking at the progress and suspension techniques bars. However I have heard that the progress bar tears out easily, is this true? Also does anyone know if I can just buy the rear Suspension Techniques bar with out buying the front?

The general consensus is to use a thicker rear and a stock front. However, you already have both on order so you can have first hand knowledge on the subject.

First install the rear and try it for a while (4 or more events). Then install the front. Better or worse? If it's better then leave it on, or if it's worse, take it off.

MaaseyRacer: Between the Progress and ST bar I like the design of the ST bar better. You can order just the rear swaybar.

Are both the Progress and ST bars adjustable? A lot of people I work with and hang out with are telling me to only get an adjustable rear sway bar. Any thoughts on this?

Is this for a street car or an autocross car? If you are a serious autocrosser an adjustable swaybar is handy, otherwise I doubt you will never need it.

I have done a few auto-x's and I will be doing more, so I think I will get the adjustable ST bar.

If the car is camber challenged, then the stiffer front could help by reducing roll-induced camber gain.
