question about 1996 preludes??
okay in 1996 wasn't there only 3 different model preludes available to the us market. a s, si, vtec model. and the engine choices for the u.s. was f22, h23, h22 vtec right. i thought the vtec was rate at 190 horsepower. i have someone telling me that in 96 there were two different h22 vtec preludes offered ... one with 190 horsepower and one with 200 horsepower. i searched and this is all i found. let me know if this is correct or if there was another usdm engine available for the 96 prelude. thnks!

the 96 was rated at 190 crank hp and there was only one vtec engine offered.
If i recall correctly the 97-99's were rated at 195 crank hp and the 99-01 were rated at 200 crank hp.
this claimed jump in hp has yet to be shown on a dyno, most usdm h22's dyno at 155-160 whp
BTW you may want to consider another year as the 96's were obd2. Depending on your plans for the lude you may want to get an obd1 4th gen. IMO the best years for the 4th gen were 94 and 95.
