REQ: STD w/ DX tranny to ZC/Si Axle Grocery List
OK. So here'd the story. I own an 89 STD Hatch. The crappy 4 speed tranny blew up and I needed to replace it. My brother (doublethink on h-t) is currently doing a B16 swap on a 91 CRX DX, so he was kind enough to give me the 5 spd DX tranny from the CRX to put in my STD hatch.
Previous to my 4spd explosion... i had been having problems with popping when turning left. I assumed it must've been just the axle so I left it alone for the time being a took it easy on the turns.
So, now armed with a good working DX 5pd along with the DX axles I brought it to a local mechanic I trusted and he hooked the whole thing up. He installed it and it works great, but the turns still pop (both ways).
It must be the hubs then (??)
I plan on doing a ZC swap in the very near future, so I just wanted to know exactly what I need to put in Si axles with the ZC engine/tranny. Do I just need the axles and hubs? Or is there more needed, because if I spend the money and time on a ZC and it still pops when I turn I'll probably push it off a cliff.
Sorry if this is confusing I'm basically asking what HUB/AXLES do I need (part numbers etc) for this. Please post any questions.

if you have a ZC tranny, you wont be able to use the DX axles. DX axles are un equeal length, but ZC axles are equal length. for a ZC tranny, you'll need 94-01 integra axles. also, you'll have to remove a dust seal from the axle, but im not to sure exactly what that is. search around and you'll find it.

I just want to know how your mechanic got the DX axles to fit into the STD hubs.

thats odd, considering the trouble my friend and i had using 90-93 teg axles. we 6 inches with the first one before it snapped, and about 10 feet with the second one. he's using 94-01 teg axles now with no problems.

EUmoria - the STD knuckles have the same splines as the HF.
They are different and the don't accespt DX axles.
For the ZC tranny you will need to use the Si, DX, LX, EX... hubs ( you probably already know that you might want to consider trading out the entire knuckle as it is much easier).
You should also use the ZC intermediate shaft. I have read that the integra axles can be used, but not the integra intermediate shaft.
Other people have made custom axels and put the integra inner joint on the Si, Dx, LX, Ex full length axles and ran without the equal length axles and intermediate shaft.

Well now I'm more confused as to how my car is actually running. He never mentioned or charged for DX hubs but the thing is running so whatever.
Thanks a lot for the ZC info. I'll just get a set of 90-91 SI axles and hubs.
