Default main caps... torque question

progress is being made... slow, but it's being made. I'm almost done measuring everything and blueprinting the block (b16). It's pretty much time to actually assemble the thing, but I'm wondering about the torque specs givin here on HT and in the helms manual... main caps for example, should be 56ft/lbs right? is that assuming with lube, or is that a dry torque spec?

if the specs are for no lube, then I'll have to re measure the main bearing clearances and find out what the spec should be with lube...

thanks!

Well, all the manuals are done using engine oil. If you touqrue using engine oil, then here are the numbers you need:

B18C Mains 1 & 5 56 ft. lbs.
Mains 2.3.4 49 ft. lbs.

B18A/B, B16, B20 Mains 1-5 56 ft. lbs.

This is all with engine oil. Don't use anything else!

...Unless other is specified from the bolt-supplier? I hear ARP use different torque-specs with engine oil and (the usually submitted?) special assembly lube?

do those bolts not see the tensil stress that would require ARP upgrades? seems like the OEM ones hold up just fine... probably why I never hear of people using them...?

Oh my God, I really don't know how to read or pay attention. I heard "bolts" and "bottom end" and automatically thaught about rod bolts. Shame on me. Oh, and just about everyone I've heard/read about that's building the bottom end use OEM main cap bolts.
