5th Gen Bike Rack?
Can anyone recommend a good bike rack that doesn't damage the paint and body of the car? Roof or trunk, it doesn't matter, whatever works.
Post up recommendations. Thanks

is this a roof rack? hybrid setup, as in you have to buy misc parts and piece it together?

The Yakima setup is a roof setup. Yes you have to piece it together, but it's very simple to do.
The Allen rack is a rear mounted setup. When I get some free time later I'll put up some pictures of both so you can see which one you would prefer.

Allen rack - http://www.allenracks.com
pros: Simple to use. Very easy and quick to put on and take off.
cons: Have to be careful how you mount the bike, don't want anything banging the rear of the car.
All the pictures can be seen here http://www.allenracks.com/trunk.html
Yakima rack - http://www.yakima.com
pros: Secure, safe.
cons: More expensive and harder to load bikes on roof.
Yakima has a number of different styles, you'll have to look on their website to which style you would prefer.

Don't blump it...there's no question. an Allen 133A 3 bike carrier trunk mount rack- it's a patented design that will fit any vehichle. IT"S VERY VERSITAL. i work at a bike shop and i sell them all the time. it's the best deal out there...easiest to use...and you dont' have hardward or scratches left on your car when you are finished.
our shop sells them for $59.99, compared to a 400$ yakima system that only carries 1 bike that you have to drive around with all the time...the allen beats it hands down. once the straps are set for your car...it takes 30 secs to put on and less than that to take off.
BUY ONE and you will be happy.

I have had yakima bike and ski racks, not on my car, but parents SUV, etc.. they were nice but way overpriced... i would rather have something like the allen that is removeable easily..
