I've gone once this year (class im in is STX). I'm going again this month as I challenged one of the Scooby Dudes early in the season and I won. He owes me a free Auto-X day, allthough I was lucky he was hitting cones all day
In the Omaha region, there are as many as 3 that show up. Nate Werner(aka Albino Dragon), Me, and Brian Fitzpatrick (a national competitor in D-Stock)

Street Mod for SCCA, whatever I parked it with last, but usually Falken Azenis.
Group D for NASA and usually same tires.
Everyone should autocross at least once in their life.

I'm on my second set on Kumho Victoracers. I've never run Hoosiers, but what I hear is 1) they're significantly better than Kumhos (and cost significantly more), 2) they don't last as long as Kumhos 3) when they get past their prime the performance falls off drastically.
I'm staying on Kumhos for now because I'm not good enough to warrant Hoosiers. Yet
I expect about 60 good runs out of Kumhos, or about 1 season for most people. YMMV.

You run on street tires for SM?

I usually run SM or DM depending on which car I bring out.
I got to try some "dead" hoosiers at the last event for the first time and have to say they are WAAAAAY better than falkens.....
Get yourself a set of slicks!

For a few reasons:
1) I've been pressed for time lately, not had enough free time to autocross as much as I'd like. And when I do, I never feel like swappin tires anymore. As well although I have won and placed top 3 more than once, I'm not a competitive autocrosser, I do it mainly for fun and to maintain ability and skill.
2) The car is Not really setup to be a competitive SM car, although I win from time to time and even on the Azenis, it's set up nicely for HPDE's.
&
3) I actually do have Khumo Ecsta V700's on the TE37's but have been waiting to track them and not waste them on the extremely rough surface that is the Giant's stadium lot that I usually attend with NASA or M-club.
I actually just picked the wheel's/tire's from rodneys last night and back to my place till they are used at the Glen in September.
I still say everybody should autocross, I just wish I had more time to. I get more out of a whole DE weekend, It's concentrated and can amass equal track time to or more than a whole year of autocrossing in just 1 or 2 days of track sessions.

Affirmative (hand waves in air).
I race TIR (street tire) with Tarheel Sports Car Club, thscc.com. It's an awesome club because each event is from 100-130 entrants. There are three ITR owners in the club. It's interesting, actually just thought about this, b/c the club prez has a PY, another guy in my class has a NBP ('01, right?), and I've got the CW.

Do you think the Victoracers are faster overall in a typical autocross event than Azenis? I've considered trying them, but they have to be daily driven too.

I would say the Victoracers are slightly faster then Azenis. My times are very close to the ITRs in STX here, and they run on Azenis, but have suspension mods.
But I wouldn't even think about daily driving Victoracers. I know people who drive to events on them if it's close, but that's it. They'd be extremely unsafe in the rain, and you probably wouldn't get 5000 miles out of them on the street (guessing).

Type-R's should be placed on on silver platters and worshipped. There is no better car in the WORLD. You must leave it in the garage and clean/wax it daily. Otherwise, you do not deserve to own the best car in the WORLD!!!

I autoX my R in STX on Azenis, might change to CSP next year and get some Victoracers. Haven't really decided yet, and my Omni Power upper control arms aren't legal for CSP for some stupid reason. Actually the Type R might switch to DSP next year also, so we will see.
As far as the Victos being better that the Azenis, I would guess about a second faster on a 50 sec. course.

I live in the northland. Are you the guy that autocrosses regularly with HUGE tires that stick out of the fenders? I don't remember the guy's name, but every time I drop by the watch, he's autox'ing.
I dooo. Mucho fun too. I had a WRX that I raced in DS class for a while and I did win quite a bit. Then I drove an R after a competition one day and beat my best time by a full second with someone in the car. Needless to say I dumed the Scooby and just got my own R a few weeks ago. I took fastest stock at the last autocross in our region.
Hoosiers are the way to go BTW. 225/45/15 up front and 205/50/15 in the rear.

This is my first season in auto x. I'm the only R, but there aren't too many around where I live. I've been running on so3's, but I'm going to switch to some worn Azenis and give them a try. I'll need new tires for next season, but I'm not sure what to get yet. My skills don't warrant R compound yet. I'm running in STX. I have enough car to become competive, I just need to drive better.
so if you place your type R on a silver plater and pamper it its whole life, which i did for 2 years, you dont get to enjoy it, honda didnt engineer this thing to sit in a garage somewhere, i wax mine constantly but on sunday its race day.
